Wanted: Now sorted: Freyr & Devik FW149 or FW196 M15x1 .30 sound moderator

My fd fell apart after 250 rounds. Customer service from UK distributor was appalling.
Thankyou. Very sorry to hear of your experience.

I already have 2 FW moderators and love them. I don't know any other make/model that manages to be as light, quiet and compact at once. What did you replace yours with?

One of mine (.224) is on over 500 rounds, the other (6.5) about 100 rounds. Following your post, I've just checked them and neither is showing what I would consider to be undue wear.

My experience of Cluny so far has also been excellent, but then I've not had a complaint to make.

Tom, thanks for your suggestion. 🙏 That's a handsome moderator at an attractive price, but probably a bit much for the destination rifle: a Kipplauf that I'm trying to keep as handy as possible while at the same time making it considerate to use on some semi-rural permissions.

I’ve had 3 f and d mods all still going strong the ultimate silence is the best and I purchased the lightest one for my 6.5 it’s magic. People grumble about them but honestly I’ve no complaints

What kipplauf have you got, difficult to find a mod that doesn’t take away the whole kipplauf appeal 🤪

A K3. I fitted a friend's FW196 yesterday, and the rifle stayed surprisingly handy. I think a FW149 would be even better, provided there's enough suppression; but it's only a classic 7mm, so nothing like '30-06 gas levels.

Is anyone using an FW149 (F&D's muzzle can)? I've had contradictory reports of its adequacy for full-bore use. As mentioned, I want to keep the Kipplauf handy, but there's no point adding any weight at all if it isn't making enough of a difference.

Update: I went to have a look at some of the smaller F&Ds in a shop today, had a rush of blood to the head, and came away with a UTS 131. It is tiny, and very light (but not as light as my wallet now is), and tomorrow I'll find out what it actually does. 🤞
