Roe buck long nose skulls.

I am clearing out my garage and have a very large freezer containing several Roe heads,
I have cut the antlers from most of them and intend to use them for walking sticks at a later date when I get round to it.
However I have some that are medal class, at least silver possibly gold which I am getting mounted.
I already have several on my wall so these are surplus to my wall space.
Does anybody know of a likely market for such things, getting them cleaned and mounted costs so obviously I would be looking to recover my costs at least.
Perhaps a pub or anybody wanting to rig out a hunting lodge maybe.
I'll attach some I already have which are not the medal class ones I am talking about.

I have sold a lot on eBay. Cut antler ‘sticks’ I got around £10 per set. Large well prepped heads fetched around £40. You will certainly not get back what you invest to have them done.

Not cut at all and full upper skull will fetch around £75 for large ones, but having one prepped like that will just break you even if lucky. Pubs etc, are usually tight on cash flow and unless you are in a very wealthy location will likely not be a big opportunity.

Sorry to be the bringer of negative news

Thanks VSS, I've found if there already mounted on the shields and have decent enough heads 20-30 Is pretty reasonble possible chance that splitting them is more cost effective honestly though you'd probably dwindle the "non hunting" market sort of since there harder to hang on the wall for a regular person.

Medal class, If the CIC papers are there to back them up (or there un-cut) depending on the head and medal score a pretty penny can be gained for them.

Antlers themselves a decent matched 6pt pair £15 is pretty reasonble, people use them for crafts.
Including gram weight of antler isn't a bad idea

The silver and gold head have not been measured but looked at by a measurer, I didn't bother to get them measured as getting them clean and cut was costing so didn't want to add to the cost. When I collect them I'll put them up for show.

Bear in mind that medal class stature is only of interest to the person who shot them, to the buyer, it’s just a nice piece for decoration

Of course, the whole lot is usually only of any interest to the person that took it unless it's for pub or man cave decoration.

if you want them done nicely, PM me, I can do them just fine at a fair rate, but I’m not sure it’s worth it investment wise to be brutally honest

Too be fair too taxidermists there worth a pretty penny, not a humongous amount since there's a lot of medal head roe but a lot buy them in and mount them for other people's home.

Would surprise you how many people want a deer head in there house, becoming more common in recent years.

I wouldn't trust the number I have in a zip lock bag, also I'd like to see your work before I give you any of mine.
Luckily I have been given a contact of a very nice man not far from me to do any work for me now.

Here's some of the ones I had done.

dang that's a stonker, when did you shoot that? but in reality you'd probably want the 30m vacuum seal bags, and obviously dont "vacuum" when you seal it. 🤣

Ha ha, just yesterday morning; planting those hardwoods down by the riverside thirty plus years ago didn’t do much harm, eh?

The wood is actually for sale if you want to track down the one who did that to him…😆

Four defined antler bases is amazing, dont see that often at all! he should see how much that weighs.... not even sure if a deer like that could be scored (probably not) but interesting regardless!

The ‘outliers’ could be assessed for volume I feel - volume in cubic centimetres of the antlers is arrived at by deducting the whole skull weight minus the portion of antler in water: there would be little to prevent measuring the volume of the conventional pair with the most of the right additional antler, then assessing the volume of the left outlier antler as an individual, thereafter adding the further thus measured volume results together then converting to CIC points by the normal formula to arrive at a fairly near accurate measurement and subsequent score of the volume.

The ‘wet’ but dry to touch weight was a bit above 615grammes, but will of course drop by a percentage as it eventually dries completely.

Do you use a gamedealer? Quite a few will buy them especially from regular clients, won't get quite as much as on the open market but easier to shift.
Gamedealer will take them as they are so less work for you.
