BBC article - Man had 28 illegal firearms at home

He needs help, collecting Glocks!

That nice Mr Bl*** banned pistols lets ask him for comment.

A deactivated Bren machine gun is a weapon if you throw it at someone, other wise its a lump of steel.

A deactivated Bren, or for that matter any other deactivated gun is still treated as an offensive weapon or firearm if used in the course of a crime. So throwing a deactivated Bren gun somebody or using it as a club would still be treated as a firearms offence.

interesting , i wonder what the firearm offences data would look like if you removed all the deactivated and replica stuff from the data

It would look very different if there wasn't "two-tier" (I know, it permeates everything) treatment of firearms.
On the definition that applies to the public, by far the greatest use of firearms against people is done by the police. They don't record that as firearms use because they are allowed to use a double standard.
On the other hand if you restrict the meaning of "firearm" to guns firing projectiles propelled by an ignited propellant - i.e. guns firing cartridges, and "gun crime" to the use of such guns against people to injure, kill or threaten, then the data woukd show that gun crime was very much lower.

Evidently a nutter.........never mind 5 years, he really needs the key throwing away.
Funny how whenever there is some bizarre conviction, no-one appears to have asked the perp why they did it.
You hardly ever get the motive reported, and that is the one thing everyone wants to know...

Fair play to TB, less paperwork and leave the "Wannabe" Rooster Cogburn types in Trump Land

I get why he collected them, being a gun nut myself, but c'mon, that's a risky business in the UK

reminds me of the guy that lifted a (I think) L96 and an SA80 alongside a couple of other bits from a MOD armoury.

Yep, just looked it up
2x L96 - 1 deactivated
1x live SA80
1x Deactivated LSW (LMG SA80)

I went to collect one of our Rental trucks on Salisbury plain, from a field kitchen, I Was doing all the off hire checks and checking for damage, when I jumped in the Truck to check the diesel level and was about to drive away and there laid in the passenger footwell was a SA80, I went back to the Kitchen and asked if anybody was missing something, there was a very red face who absolutely s**t his self when the penny dropped, I said it was no good to me, I only like ones that work:lol: I hope he didn't get too much of a telling off.

The Police almost certainly did ask why he did it, but a fundamental basis in our law is that a defendant doesn’t have to say anything. Even pleading “guilty” the defendant doesn’t have to say anything.

And by pleading “guilty” the defendant is not subject to a trial where the evidence and witnesses are examined.

The Judge when adjudicating sentence will take all such matters into account and the sentencing remarks will usually be published after sentencing - although it may take a few days before a full transcript is available.
