6.5cm viht n160

Viht has some very strange data listed for N160 to be used with 130grn bullets in 6.5CM.
Has anyone actually tried it? Ive ran it through Gordons reloading tool. It saying about 44.5grn max.
Viht website says 31.6 to 36.7max for a Sierra TGK. This seems VERY low.
But viht also say 38.9 to 43.8 max for a sierra TMK. This seems more like it.
Basically the same bullet. Because that data they have published makes no sense at all.
Just looking for some real life experience before i start working up load.

Don't quote me on charge weights because I haven't got my book however, I have successfully used data for another 130g lead core bullet (eld-m maybe?) it was around 42-42.5g there or thereabouts. This was before data was available for the 130g TGK. Offered good accuracy along with good velocity at over 2800fps in MY rifle.

As always, work up with caution

I use N160 in my Creedmoor, Lapua SRP brass, 139 Scenars im using 43.2 grains for 2825fps in a 27in Bartlein barrel, If your using small rifle primer Brass, then the powder charge needs increasing slightly upto 1.5 gr above what the Book says, I was Advised of this a few years ago when I was trying to develop a load, I was nowhere near the predicted speed and my case were black because they were not obturating , so Laurie said I should go up a tad and sure enough everything dropped into place. But each rifle is different so the only way is to pay attention to what your Rifle and brass is telling you and above all be safe, Vithavouri are very conservative with their data.

Can’t help you with 130s.

What I can say is that I use 43.4gr N160 under 147 ELDMs and have no issues using for that load.

Given loads for lighter bullets tend to be higher, I’d be very surprised if you have a pressure issue using the higher of the max loads with either of those bullets.

I'm just starting to load my CM the same.

Having made that mistake my comeback is have you thought about RS60?
I get 2786fps with 42.5gr using 130ELD-Ms
And getting 1/3 MOA all day long at 100y
