New Manbily carbon fibre shooting tripod

Hi guys I've been in a fortunate situation to be given the opportunity to trial the new but not yet released Manbily TS 364 PA03 carbon fiber tripod which has a fully adjustable ballhead integrated into the top of the tripod, this can come with a saddle clamp or a arca/swiss clamp which also allows for picatinny mounting.

The saddle is more than capable of securing my heaviest rifle set ups, a remmy 700 in a Accuracy international chassis so will be more than up to the job for any airgun upto any centerfire.

I have had it out with my .17HMR and it was a joy to carry around, prior to this I've been using a bog deathgrip tripod and this is a Breath of fresh air to carry and use in the field.

If you do run arca/swiss on some rifles but require a the saddle on others you can swap the saddle clamp for this

As soon as it is released for sale I will update the thread.

If anyone is looking at getting a Tripod in the near future I wouldn't think twice about recommending this when it comes out

Looks the part - I will be in the market once they’re released, if the price is right. It won’t replace sticks, but would cover my static, sitting and longer range foxing needs. How stable are these tripods, compared with a bipod?

Depends how you use it and how you use a bipod, if you have your rifle on a tripod at the balance point, it will be stable but not as stable as a bipod with your weak hand and/or bag supporting the butt (technically becoming a tripod over a wider area). The rifle may be on a tripod, however its connected at a single point

I got a new one myself last week the Sunwayfoto T3640CS -D tripod. Very pleased with it.

Light weight carbon Fibre made for hunting.

Exactly this.

I had my expectations all wrong, thinking it would be rock solid. It really isn’t - unless you get your stance right.

They’re great for sitting shots over vegetation that’s too high for a bipod. Or very steeply angled shots (up or down), where you can set them up so you have a comfortable shooting position that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.

But the set up faff, weight and very marginal gain in stability over sticks when standing meant that I abandoned them for anything that might involve walking and/or standing shots with any degree of time pressure.

I think for active stalking (rather than ambush), quad sticks are probably easier to get the hang of and more versatile.

I bought a Manbilly about 9 months ago. Carbon, saddle, and ball head, direct from Manbilly, I think it was £172 delivered, that was applying all the hidden coupons on the website, like 1st time buyer etc.

Really pleased with it, although I only use it for ratting on the pig units. Stalking and foxing I still use the quads, they offer a better shooting platform, easier to walk with, and easier to deploy.
For tracking moving targets, the tripod and ballhead are brillo.

My Manbilly is so much lighter than my pals' Bog Death Grip jobbie... his hasn't got the swivelling head either.

I use both, as you say, for stalking I use sticks, however if I'm sat (or usually standing) waiting for a fox or deer to come out of a block of woodland a tripod is perfect as it allows you to follow a moving animal easier and quieter until it presents itself for a shot

I have the previous version and it very good at a £200 price point. Looking forward to seeing this upgrade.

I agree for stalking I would use quad sticks but for vermin control they are the best from ratting to foxing. Tracking a fox across a field you just can't beat them.

I use Alli express a far bit ,never yet been turned over.
Same as anything the Chinese will copy it ,their "Not Bogpod " is hundred quid delivered.
The real thing double that but physically identical.

How does it compare to the bog type, I sold mine in the end purely down to weight, is this one more suitable to carry around particularly when constantly moving,
Cheers

Would clamping a rifle as above, or a rifle off point of balance and needing a tight clamp to hold it hands free effect the zero by squashing the stock?

It's much lighter, so much so that my shooting chum was going to sell his "Bog", I told him not to be hasty, as he doesn't do a great deal of shooting, more fishing for him.
I'd say it's not quite as sturdy as a Bog, the carbon legs are skinnier than his Bog.
For the price I paid for it I'm chuffed, no complaints so far.
