low offers on Thermals

Recently loads of as new thermals are popping up in the classifieds with members asking near new prices, when i offer a low price several insults are thrown back, I think people need to realise if you buy a thermal, some off the manufacturers will only honor original purchaser warrenty, please bare that in mind, a 5 k scope with less than 6 months old 2nd hand becomes a 3k scope in my mind its a risk for a second owner to buy something without a warrenty, I think people seem to forget that.

Technology moves fast in the thermal world. A fair few people think these scopes will hold their value like quality glass might.
There a fair lot on eBay that sit for months and months as people refuse to realise the value. All the while it’s devaluing!

Another thing to consider when selling privately is that the seller wants the full amount up front. When buying new you can usually get 0% interest and spread the cost which can be more appealing for a lot of people Vs having £2k or so spend at once.

As with anything second hand, wipe the VAT off before even thinking of a price.

Supply and demand. Second hand market will be set by what people will pay. That's a subjective decision.....and guess your views aren't in line with the current market.

Sociality as a whole wants the newest phone/device shooters will be no different they might have 3 phones and 10 guns, then think they will shoot more with the latest kit.! so sell the old one.

I dont use mine for stalking as said I use my Swarovski bins.

But its essential now for rabbitting and foxing so would have to replace it when its knackered.

I wouldn't trust buying used either I would have to buy new for peace of mind.

sorry but I wouldn’t go out without mine , last night at around 8 I walked past an edge of forest and noticed 2 hot spots lying down inside the timber , so knowing they were there and chewing the cud I popped over onto a wee plantation , got a wee buck then came back for the sika , sure enough out they came and ping ping , so without the thermal I wouldn’t have seen them and carried on past , 3is better than 1 , I’m greedy

sorry but I wouldn’t go out without mine , last night at around 8 I walked past an edge of forest and noticed 2 hot spots lying down inside the timber , so knowing they were there and chewing the cud I popped over onto a wee plantation , got a wee buck then came back for the sika , sure enough out they came and ping ping , so without the thermal I wouldn’t have seen them and carried on past , 3is better than 1 , I’m greedy

Is it still a criminal offence to take or intentionally kill a deer at night, unless under licence or as an act of mercy? You on a night license?

You're generous £3k for electronics without a warranty is a bit much

This is true Mealiejimmy, however taking a risk with no warrenty as far as im concerned warrents a lowball figure, so guess folk need to do their research before buying one then expecting to offload it 6 months later for as new price with zero warrenty,

Timings are 1 hour before sunrise 1 hour after sunset always take note of the official timings for your particular area to make sure your legal

You could take a shot five minutes before last light, although legal by a fag paper that deer runs and you have hardly any sign at the shot site, you’re in a muddle all so all praise the thermal

Who said I shot it at night ya divot .. I used a hand held thermal to spot it .. then I shot it .. who mentioned anything about night shooting , you shouldn’t really write incriminating things and jump to stupid conclusions . Think before you jump in .
