low offers on Thermals

Nothing to do with it Lee. But if you have a lot of ground to cover or the landowner wants the deer numbers down then they are a good tool.

I’m that desperate I called in 3 different 6 point bucks last night, and they’re all still walking around today.
@Freeforester not just a northern thing, I said it myself meaning yesterday evening, all the bucks were called yesterday evening in legal shooting light…..

the warranty is transferable on most top brands . if you can't afford what the seller is asking then look for a cheaper model
true some transfer as its the purchase date that dictates warrenty period but guess what some top brands dont, but thanks for your financial advice i dont know how ive survived without it

Grandfather was a foreman at a farm here (the ‘grieve’), they spoke of a ‘grand nicht’ referring to a sunny afternoon; if asking or arranging an appointment time around say ‘half-four’, practically every rural Scot and Northern European would know and understand this to mean three-thirty, it seems that this is not used in England, and that it is usually taken there as meaning four-thirty. It’s no biggie, just another linguistic anomaly between cultures.

Ebay is a good way of establishing prices as its an auction site.

Equally technology is moving on or at least the advertising is. New manufacturers or at least labels are selling at lower prices with a warranty, will they be here in the future to service the warranty - that's a gamble.
I think eBay is a good way of establishing the very top end value of s/h goods . What people want and what they end up selling for can be miles apart , if they ever sell at all.

It’s not just thermal. You see it with any recreational kit where technology moves fast, where up front costs are high, and where there isn’t a big enough market for there to be clearly established second hand prices.

People want to make back their initial investment, but don’t understand how fast things are going obsolete.

It was true of digital SLRs (that market has largely stabilised). It’s true of drones. It’s true of a lot of video gaming equipment (though here the market is big enough that it’s very easy to check prices).

I’m just waiting for the first round of Alpex Lites to start going up for sale 😁

Buying a thermal is Almost going to be a total loss of layout in my mind.

The tech moves that fast.

That’s what I tell myself when I buy one anyway.

Then I’m happy if I get 500 or so quid for it.

Although I can't comment on specific items for sale here. I often see second hand items with higher asking prices than brand new units on offer in certain retailers.
I have often offered a lower price for an item but I backed it up with evidence of new prices not being anywhere near where they were. Some accept the offer with this new knowledge, some don't.
No need for rudeness on either side in my opinion, a simple no is sufficient if you don't want to accept an offer.

Ive never worked on this theory, If I'm selling I advertise for what I would like but very rarely get and expect to be knocked down, When buying used I very rarely pay the asking price and make an offer, It's not that I can't afford it it's just the way I do business sometimes it works sometimes not, Can't understand why people would get upset If someone makes a low offer It's just business, You either accept or decline.

How about this for a thought, how about stop buying thermal annd digital, go back to Ld fashioned glass and you never know you like the price of carcasses might rise?

Though would just put that out there, after all everybody moans about the price of carcasses, except me😂😂😂😂😂

As a buyer you can’t really moan. It’s a case of pay what they are wanting, or do without. Of course, if you don’t wish to pay that amount for a secondhand item, you could always buy new

Each to their own, if your happy who really cares about everyone else. For deer I prefer good glass but its not much good after dark (irrelevant for deer unless you have a night licence) 👍 Old fashioned works and is uncomplicated .

Lots of good deals out there on new products as distributors try to clear out old stock to make way for new so offer the dealers a better trade price
Infiray and pulsar are dropping prices fairly frequently

Have you actually thought about not putting them under so much pressure so they’re not nocturnal?

It does help you know little bit old-fashioned but no need for a night license not that I would know🙈😂😂

Sorry Lee....just making the point about the night bit...dont shoot deer at night myself and couldnt think of a reason too unless I was being paid (appreciate the need in some cases). Shooting them last light is bad enough and if I have the choice I always aim for first thing so I can do the time consuming bits in daylight 👍

Tech is shifting that fast that after 6 months the model you bought is only worth what somebody thinks is a deal . I bought a Site Mark Wraith of here and as posted it was like brand new and it was , 450 I paid , used it 2-3 times on my 22 . It’s still like new but there worth 🤷‍♂️£10 +, gave it to my mate and told him to keep it , he gave me it back and had purchased a AlpexLRF . 😁I couldn’t even give it away 😂so I’m just going to store it for 50 year and hopefully they’ll come back into fashion like my 5 pair o flared Lee jeans av still got 😉
