The heat from cutting and welding cultivator legs was soon forgotten in the cool Easterly breeze in Nth Essex, however the direction is perfect for the high seat or a foot stalk my sat camera has not pinged for a couple of days but like anything they have to be there!
A streak of brown with spots was heading my was followed by a much larger of the same, this doe was in pursuit of her very excited youngster charging around like a mad thing, by fcuk these deer are sharp as she locked onto the movement of my rifle just in case a buck was following as last time one was mixed in with the group, had this been November the few seconds of a perfect broadside shot would have been her undoing, but it was nice to see them arrive and disappear!
The Tick Tock deer o'clock is always running with my late in the day stalking as it gives me time to fix "stuff" then get out, so "out" of the seat was the decision as you can look at an empty field all day long, a bit earlier was a good choice with 2 fallow rounding the cover of the "pond" with a 3rd getting up from this tall SFI/Weed cover as the other 2 went past.
200 yds is fine but they were milling around so I knocked off 40/50 yds then one clocked me (as they do) but this worked out well for open field half light stalking the other 2 took enough time for me to get up and on the sticks find the spot with the wind killing the crack of the 95gn round to just a soft "phut" the other 2 ran putting some tall cover in the way also it is a long season.
After the cart ride back to the truck hoist, clean, load and the greens walked out to feed a last look with the thermal showed they come out when and where they want.
Hot hook weight 42kg so dealer ticket will be showing less after it dries out
