Nice looking blade, what’s the thickness - looks quite meaty?
It's fairly hefty in thickness of the blade/tang. I'll measure it when I get home and post it.
For reference, this style blade is referred to as a "Breacher". As such, it was designed as a utilitarian style blade for people in the NSW community (HFB is primarily geared towards the SEAL community, since the owner is a former SEAL, and maintains close ties within the community). It was intended for heavy use across a wide range of applications.
HFB used to be a niche company, so getting a blade from them used to be fairly straightforward. Unfortunately, the word got out about them. And while I am happy for Andy, that his business has exploded over the last few years, it has made the prices go sky high, and made getting a blade hard to obtain. I was fortunate, in that my request was quietly passed via back channels, and they happened to have a couple raw blanks in this pattern stashed away. So, I drove down to the shop, and they assembled the scales and ground the blade while I waited. Their show room is quite impressive.
For those that have seen the Netflix series 'The Terminal List", many (if not all) of the blades and axes/tomahawks in the show were HFB's. Similar to the Resco watches worn by Chris Pratt and others; it all ties back into the NSW community (which is quite small and close knit).
