Figure out whether you want something light enough to want to take them out of your truck in future, send a message and take a run or ask a friend in the area to view with a view to buying if you’re uncertain or uncomfortable. I’ve never regretted losing the weight but retaining almost all the performance.

I have vortex and I don't think the build quality is quite up there unfortunately. My high end vortex binoculars have had to be replaced under warranty 4 times in the last 6 years. I use them a lot but I'm not hard on kit.

I looked at the new opticrons and they weren’t a patch on the old ones I had stolen

Tried Swarovski EL. Zeiss HDX and Leica Trinovids

Leica won after over an hour testing them all.

Simple answer is the Zeiss 7x42 BGAT*P*. Sadly no longer made but the perfect combination of fantastic lenses, very good ergonomics and tough build that will truly last a lifetime of use.

I can second that.

Can anyone explain why if I look through my (inexpensive) binoculars I see a decent clear image, however if my mate looks through them he gets a double image. Likewise if I look through his I get a double image and he does not. We have seen this happen with different people some see clear and some see a double image.
It is certainly one reason I would not buy binoculars from online retailers ie without hands on testing.

You need to adjust the width of the binos while looking through them until you get a clear image . I can't think of any other reason

Sounds like the collimation is gone in one or possibly both of the pairs of glasses, and one or other or both of you have become accustomed to it.

Dont go Zeiss,they are pulling out and dropping factory support.

Just for scopes, they’re are keeping their binocular range due to birdwatchers

Tried them today
No doubt there is an improvement in image but at the expense of size , weight and not as nice ergonomics as the Leica in my opinion.
