Not finished with the prepping him yet but my first trophy stag, had been letting good heads walk the last 3 years on this permission and after from advice on here I decided to take one for the wall and with the effort it took to get him out could be my last.

Would he be worth scoring ?

For sure! Cracker!

And yes, without mechanical extraction equipment, it becomes a living hell once you squeeze that trigger
Thanks, absolutely delighted with him. He walked 40 yards from where I shot him. He crossed a normally dry drain but with all the rain and some drainage works in the region it now had about 3ft of water in it.

Tried moving him as far as I could on my own until I had to call in a favour from my brother who had just started to come stalking with me, he hasn’t shot a deer yet and is already under the idea of letting the big ones walk.

Beasts like that, even two grown men can’t pull. Beautiful creatures and what a good memory for the wall too. But, yes, same here, focus as I get older is on the smaller ones 😂 and learned to only shoot them in places where you can extract them

Well done.
Puts me in mind of a neighbour who shot one (woodland beast) which came in at 27 stone; took four of them to lift it and he was a bit afraid to hoist it up in the shed for fear of the roof coming down!

Good luck with the measure i hope it makes a good score for you.
You'll soon get the idea of how to handle large deer. Either that or you'll jack in 😉

half thinking of a couple lengths 200m rope and tying them together to reach the tow bar of the jeep or tractor 😅
Joking apart, the much used solution in the forest is often as not a variation on just that; a few snatch blocks with strops around suitable anchor trees and a guiding hand with the carcass. Comms required, but a capstan winch is not. Saves time.

Metal frame that folds & 2 wheel chair detachable wheels.
Folds up & fits in a boot of any car
Have extracted up to silver medal 170kg stags over the roughest of ground. Makes it a breeze.
For reds you need to be prepared
Tried adding a video of it in action with a mature hind but the file is too large
Ill try & compress it
