Steel is now to be tariffed into the EU.

What? I think some confusion here. If the UK slapped a 50% tariff on cars, then the UK would not pay a penny to Germany. The price of the cars would rocket, their sales would plummet and consequently very much less money would flow to Germany.
Given the current realities, the UK government should very much be taking a robust approach to the EU’s continual abuses and threatening them with a 200% tariff on non-EVs. As it is, we’ll all be driving Chinese cars soon, they’ve the capacity to take up the slack, and they’re cheaper for the UK consumer.

You're right, the importer would have to pay the his own Government. Initiating a trade war is great :norty:

Completely UK built?Every single part?
Will you tariff the components you import from the EU?
i doubt we'd need to since the EU will have it's hands full with angry fishermen from france and spain who can't fish our waters anymore

I know, but I am just mentioning what is not British owned anymore. As I grew up in the British car making business and so sad to see the scrap of it left today.

I was born in Coventry and remember all of the local manufacturers Jaguar, Austin, Morris, Standard, Hillman, Humber, Rover, Alvis, Triumph, Land Rover. I worked at Land Rover in Solihull in the 80s and that’s where I got my love of the green oval.

Wouldn’t impose tariffs on imported supply chain car parts as they employ British assembly line workers…….but would impose tariffs on Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, BMW, VW, Mercedes, Porsche, Volvo, Saab complete vehicles.
