So just wanted to hear everyone else
Ammo choice for the cz?
I’ve been using norma subsonics tac 22 40grains
Just because they where quieter than the blazer rounds

I’m zerod at 100 yards but going to re do it at 50 as I’m shooting less usually so while I’m doing that I was going to test some other ammo to see what my rifle likes best.

The norma rounds are quite oily so I’d assume it would like that better ?

What are you guys using and getting good groupings with in with as close to good weather conditions as possible?

Every barrel is different. Need to test as many different options as possibly can.

^^this^^ rifles of the same make and type sometimes like different ammunition - it’s work running as many types as you can through it and when you narrow it down to the 3 best shoot them all again.

Also worth noting and something I demonstrated to a few people a few weeks ago -that if I shoot the gun warm and warm the ammo slightly the groups are consistently better. 22LR can be fussy!

Top 3, cold ammo groups at 50 yards, bottom, warm ammo.

This was repeated a number of times to show it was demonstrable.

CCI subsonic 40g and the Aguila subsonic 40g are very accurate. I’d say the cci are a flatter round. I’m not sure you’d call .22lr flat.

I tried a lot of different ammo in my 455 a few years back and the results were a bit wild. Eley seemed to be the most accurate on paper at 50 yards. All boxes claim the same 1050fps.

Winchester - 5 shots - 1055 - 1060 - 1082 - 1112 - 1121 (Both shots over 1100 cracked very loudly, other shots quiet)
This gives an average of 1086 and an average power of 110 foot pounds with a spread of 66fps

CCI - 5 shots - 1028 - 1045 - 1061 - 1063 - 1066 (All shots quiet)
This gives an average of 1052 and an average power of 98 foot pounds with a spread of 38fps.

RWS - 5 shots - 810 - 811 - 825 - 831 - 856 (All shots quiet)
This gives an average of 826 and an average power of 82 foot pounds with a spread of 46fps

Eley - 5 shots - 815 - 833 - 845 - 849 - 869 (All shots quiet)
This gives and average speed of 842 and an average power of 81 foot pounds with a spread of 54fps.

I had the norma rounds chronographed

Just picked up a Dolphin Rifle Co .22 by Mik

Also my Cz 455 fitted with a Lilja 21” barrel

Tried special match, Gecco semi auto and CCI standard

So far they all seem OK

However strong wind at 100m makes for poor testing

I was struck by the quietness of CCI standards

I thought the first rnd was a misfire so quiet it was

There an old saying "buy the best ammunition you can afford" and as a prone rifle shooter and rimfire long range shooter, I can only comment on solids not on hollow points.

Good rimfire ammunition only really shows itself at longer ranges

RWS Target Rifle it regularly gets me 100's and is only £6 a box of 50! (not always easy to get but this is sublime ammo)

SK Rifle match, a good allrounder

Eley Team or Tenex, forget all other Eley its garbage sadly and even these two top brands can be finickity in any rifle

For close range like 25 yards, pretty much anything is ok in a CZ as it has a choked barrel

Avoid high velocity stuff like mini mag as it has an issue with transitioning from supersonic to subsonic, unless you are shooting short distances

Sellier x bellot
Subsonic in my 452
Quicker than rws more accurate than Ely white box
Remind me of the old green box.
However the HP hits like a truck.
Noticibly louder thump than some others.
Much like Winchester Widemouth HPs but more accurate.

All of my .22's (CZ452, Anschutz semi auto, Winchester underlever, S&W MP15-22) love CCI Std Velocity or SK Magazine (bean tin).
Always reliable and very accurate if I do my bit properly.

Every barrel is different. Need to test as many different options as possibly can.

I have three 457 and this is my go to. All three rifles shoot inch groups at 75 yards (which is as far as I’ve shot paper with them). My purpose is hunting rabbits and squirrels and I don’t really need anything else.

Btw don’t know your intended purpose but those bullets are very good for rabbits. Actually I just checked and mine are 45 grain and rated 970 fps. Out of my 25” Trainer barrel I don’t even need suppressed. They are quiet and wallop a rabbit.
