S&B Servicing

I have a 3-20x50 PM2 in need is a strip, clean and re-gas. I seem to remember hearing there was a problem with grease used on the internal threads hardening and flaking off on to the lenses/reticule.

Has anyone got a uk optics guru or do I need to send it back to S&B?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rob

I tried Paul Burke with a 4-16X50 PM11 with this exact problem. Suffice to say it needs to go back to Schmidt in Germany. I must get round to sending it.

Be aware these are likely now subject to export regulations, so may require to go through a distributor who has an open license.

I think shipping itself could be several hundred

Ask @H et Al - he is one of the SB distributors and retailers in the UK

dont S&B now follow the ten year warranty rule ,I KNOW IT USED TO BE LIFE TIME OR FOREVER but read some where that they now only repair up to 10 years old

It’s 2 years on the PM11 scopes. My 4-16x50 was made in 1999 so definitely out of warranty 🤣

I still use it and out up with the dust on the lenses. It’s still my favourite scope. I don’t worry about it when it gets dinged, it’s such a simple and strong design and has never lost zero.

its wrong really it happed to me with Swovoski who did a brilliant repair on my binos 2nd time they refused . To be honest this was always something that the makers cannot keep but neither should they have started such forever things at the first place

Actually it’s a bit longer than that except on the electronics
