Thought some of ye might find this quite interesting it's the 2023-2024 season returns for the Republic of Ireland. This is the total for the shooting season but they're was a additional 10,000 shot under section 42 which would be out of season with permission. Usually specified cull limits

You’d have to take those figures with a pinch of salt. I know a fella who logged 15 fallow last year and he didn’t get up off the couch all winter. Then you’d have lads logging less than what they’ve shot.
Ya my curiosity spiked with the reds and hybrids being shot in kerry as well as the muntjac

The NPWS can shoot reds in Kerry. Not sure about the muntjac though!
Last I heard they were saying that there was no hybrids in kerry. I'll pm you something there you might find interesting

Those figures are nonsense, I think last year the figure for Mayo was 180 or something daft. Returns aren’t being filled in correctly.
Game dealer figures will be more than the returns no doubt. I think the dealer in Mayo was shipping upwards of 1000 deer a month for 9 months to Essex.

Ya, I won't disagree but id say the count for Kerry would be quite accurate with the fact we don't have easy access to any game dealers that I know of. They're are also a lot of lads down this way wouldn't shoot 2 a year
Have seen a photo of 1 male id say a lot of lads keep them quite in hopes of the expanding or else looking for something shoot year round cause I'm pretty sure they are on the vermin list. They're also is the original one shot in 2007 that someone had taxidermied.

There are a few knocking about.
Not surprised that with the number of males, a lot of lads don’t leave the house after the rut.
Agree with sikaseeker most lads won't leave house in the cold and stags have a longer season now then they did before.
