My old car failed it's MOT due to a 'rotten undercarriage' so I scrapped it.

Sad day as it was a cheap 1.2 Corsa that lasted 3 years and went to rural places it should never have had the ability to navigate!

I'm now looking at an SUV, I have a £4k budget.

Something roomy (i'm 6"4) that i can drive for work but also shoot from and can get around a farm reasonably well.

Any ideas? I'm seeing things like Vauxhall Mokkas and 'Jukes'.

All comments, suggestions and advice welcomed.

We had a Vauxhall Mokka hire car for 2 weeks a couple of years ago. My wife and I found it to be a very disappointing vehicle.
We've had both Astra and Corsa cars in the past and both were very good indeed so nothing to do with brand.

Dacia duster looks pretty good for the money.

RAV4 and jimmy both look abit small. I’m a big guy.

If not Rav4, then a CR-V.

Or a Vitara at a push.

Either way, stick with Japanese.

Rav 4 and Crv and Vitara are very similar in size. Dacia probably slightly smaller. Forget the Mokka and Juke. Juke is a hairdressers car and the Mokka can suffer with engine problems.
A Yeti is fab but might not find a good one for £4k

Had a duster - was very reliable for not much money
Now have a freelander - more expensive in maintenance but very luxurious. Similar price but 4 years older than the duster was

I would like a duster, i had a skoda hatch 08 reg back, iv had 4 roe in boot, massive boot space, anyhoo, i bought a 06 TOYOTA rav 4,last december, its just passed mot, so ok for another 12 months, im’ doing over 200 mile round trips to stalks, it flies along, drive steady getting 55mpg on a run, prob spent £500 getting it right, iv also had jap import pajeros autos, my mrs drives a nissan qashqai 65 mpg, dream to drive, but not happy when iv had a carcass in boot

Old Kia Sorentos and Hyundai Terracans make really good stalking vehicles. I bought a 2003 Sorento, 57k miles, for about £3.7k, it’s been superb so far.
