Hi Everyone

I just wanted to see if anyone might be able to help. I applied for my FAC and SGC 3 months ago and have recently passed my DSC1. I plan on doing my DSC2 after I gain some practical experience. I would really appreciate any opportunities to gain some experience in the field and to learn from others who have been doing this much longer than me. I'm based in Hampshire but more than happy to travel to other counties. Please do let me know if you can help in any way. I would really appreciate it.

OP , you will probably have to put your hand in your pocket and pay to gain get out and about after deer . try contacting watermeadow on this forum ,he is in hampshire

I don't post on social media but appreciate the concern
We all are just at this moment as it is an open forum

My advice is widen your horizons somewhat as just looking at stalking you only have a small slice of the cake, field craft is just what it is.
I learnt more about stalking by shooting foxes/rabbits which laid a very good foundation for shooting deer.
Every element is in it wind direction, shaddows, when to move when to not, calling, backstops, footpaths,
Hone those skills and the deer will be easier :tiphat:

Just see what I posted a few days ago on here.
I wish you well to find a good un as they are out there, many are on here.
Your right there are some good people out there, hoping to find someone who can help me. I'm doing it all for the right reasons and they will quickly see that along with my enthusiasm.

A lot of people are saying that and I may have to eventually but for now, I'm trying my best to find a mentor/someone to shadow. I don't want to just pay to go out and shoot deer as such. The shooting itself is a small part of it for me. I want to learn the whole process and help in all areas.

Have you looked at other ways to gain time in the field? You did say you was very enthusiastic.

Returned the favour Tim, corrected for you. There is a saying about pots and kettles?
Did you address your one to Lee?
Was this your list of spelling mistakes? shopping (2).webp

But you have got that completely wrong (as usual). it’s not professionals who are headshooting who are moaning about prices. It’s you lot who are moaning about people headshooting in order to increase profit. are perfectly happy going about their buisness earning a premium for something they are confident doing.

It’s a bit weird to criticise a deer culler for their spelling? Do you criticise a politician for being a poor plumber or a welder for not knowing how to cook? I fail to see the relevance.

I fail to see the relevance when you chip into myself and lee with your deer culler head on telling us we both are getting things wrong in subjects we post on.

How we get about on our ground and deal with stuff is up to us, my spelling is not the best and I accept that as I am a humble welder (these days)
however when you wade in with your wisdom it makes no difference to the both of us as we sit having a chuckle when we catch up on the phone
