DJI Matrice 4T

Hi Guys,

Looking to purchase a thermal drone for deer counting and possibly recovery, this one seems to be what is recommended but expensive does anyone on here use one?
I have been flying a Mini 3 Pro for a few years.
I already have a flyer ID and operator ID

Not yet. I've been looking at this or the 4TD which has similar thermal capabilities but more advanced mapping including LiDAR... But costs even more. Kicking myself at not getting the 4T when it first came out and was significantly cheaper.

Sorry to derail thread a bit - but I had a 3T but couldn't get on with the dual/split camera system and flying the thing at the same time. So I sold it. My question is: is there a 'simpler' not neccesarily cheaper thermal drone in terms of operator friendliness? - or is there an outfit whom I could access for personal training?. I've contacted Heliguys, but had no response.

The DJIs probably are the most user friendly, or one of, that I'm aware of. There should have been an option regarding which camera is displayed, so you can fly with just one or opt to have the split screen?

Probably was - but I couldn't figure it. That's why I want to buy professional tuition if I dip my toe in again.

We fly a couple at work. Simple to use , good camera , good thermal , poor battery life in my opinion.

They say a maximum of 45mins flying time with ideal conditions which I understand, mine is coming with 3 batteries, do you set the battery level for when it returns to home?

Honestly, 45 mins seems way too long , If you're flying , zooming in , using the thermal etc I'd say 25 to 30 mins is more realistic. Ours tend to be flown a lot rather than hovered though which makes a difference, also a lot of zooming in and out , alternating between camera and thermal .
The return to home on ours is set to trigger when the battery level gets below a certain % also if you loose signal RTH will kick in if you don't re acquire signal.

Well I did the deed and purchased a DJI Matrice 4T from the Drone Safe Store I highly recommend them if anyone is looking to purchase one, they where so helpful.

Mavic still doesn't have an IP rating so I would be a little cautious about what weather you put it up in. The thermal is good though. Even a bad thermal is great when looking down into things rather than trying to look through stuff.

Aye, it’s the Matrice 4T that I have bought, I was looking at the Mavic 3T but the Matrice seemingly is better for I am planning on using it for

I use the Matrice 300 a lot with work, logged 60 flight hours the last year and use the H20T/L2/P1 payloads. H20T is a great bit of kit but very expensive. You also don't want to be lugging a Matrice around with you all the time!

No that’s where the quad comes in handy the plus is that I do have a fair numbers of years flying a smaller drone, it’s the technology bits that I will need to try and get my head round

The 4T is more compact having the folding arms but doesn’t have the IP rating it is considerably cheaper though compared to the 4TD
