Unbelievable engraving job.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What was interesting this weekend was that my eldest casually stated his preference for the blueing and case hardening of his old .410, “the pickle,” over the matte black Cerakote of his beloved new Kofs. I have no indication of my own thoughts either way but secretly beamed with pride inside. Not only has he inherited my taste, but at age 11 he’s already observant and engaged enough to actually notice these things. With my 40th on the horizon and wife clueless he can pick me out a 20-bore shaped present any day.

I've always held that a gun should either be absolutely plain except for maker's name and etc. (such as the Colt 1911 pistol) or fully covered and that ONLY shotguns. Pistols, revolvers and rifles should be plain. As to shotguns the engraving should be all over or none at all. Let form follow function. The worst of all is this half done or partial engraving that looks to all the world as if the owner or maker couldn't affod within the price to do the job properly.

Funnily enough, this popped up in my In Box this morning:
