Its hard to believe this kids tenacity,mind you he/they were in some of Australia's worst white pointer seas,its riddled with them there.

A 13-year-old boy has been hailed a hero after swimming four hours through rough seas to get help for his mother and two siblings, who were swept out to sea on an inflatable paddleboard in WA's South West.

I was learning to swim in this pool when some twit came down the slide and his feet slammed into my ear and sunk me, it stopped me from learning to swim so I would say 20 seconds for me.

I used to be a lifeguard, so yes I could swim for four hours. Doesn't detract from the fact that the lad did a damned good job of it !

Wouldn't fancy 4 hours in the North Sea mind you, OR doing it where there's a ruddy good chance of meeting a shark.

I can only imagine the quality of that water in 1955 where actual bathrooms were few and far lol. Not to mention the pi$$ one swam in ha ha.

Why?? A young fit lad with the incentive to achieve it - no issue!

If I did it now it would take a whole lot longer than 4 hours and most of it would be done lying on my back kicking my legs!

Well done to the lad, when he was needed - he excelled!

At 13, rough seas, no training, nope. I’d say the times been exaggerated. As in he wasn’t as far away as he thought and seemed like 4 hours but was likely less
