So we have nice quiet woodland, a few deer about, all is peaceful… enter the 4x4 gang, the fcuking weekend off-roaders who don’t give a toss for the countryside, or other peoples private land.

The farmer had to put large concrete ‘LEGO’ blocks across the access to the woodland in an attempt to stop these vandals… they saw these as a challenge and winched them out of their way to gain access.

Cameras are now set up (too late) if they come again and we get a reg number they will lose the vehicle… it will be seized and ultimately crushed, like others before!

Rant over… apologies to genuine green laners, of which I’m one.

Gave up genuine green laning years ago once the idea was to go out and try and get stuck or if the lane wasn’t difficult enough it would be made so.Lots of the Green lanes around now have been blocked off or can only be ridden by trail bikes.

Yes it is not good but it is just a track, a farmer friend in nth Essex had 3 of them (not coursing) just tearing around a small 10 acre winter wheat field to the point all the water is now laying in the deep tracks and not going through the land drains.
Many farmers field security is their weakest point as they start off with good intentions then get fed up with moving the barrier or put a micky mouse one in place.

I appreciate the situation where the surface water is not draining as it should through land drains but I disagree with the comment ‘ just a track’ no… it’s a lifeline used for all purposes, maintaining the woodland, accessing feed points, extraction….now made difficult to even walk without fear of losing a wellie in the mire.

My mission now is to get pos Id of the vehicles, some crafty camera siting 🤔

If it’s regular then just get a couple of tractors off the farm, go in from each end to block them & call the police! Video from each tractor cab to ensure there are no accusations of damage or threatening behaviour.

These people are just hooligans & I’m sure, as I think is happening is Aus, if the DVSA went over their vehicles they’d find a host of issues & if insurance was checked for modifications there’d probably be one or two that weren’t declared meaning no insurance…

Your track can have a machine go in an pull it back, the winter wheat field will stay like that until it is pulled down after harvest :tiphat:
As I posted farmers put a barrier in place then get fed up with putting it back, no different to putting out a gas gun then leaving it to run out of gas or battery lol
Sorry it has disrupted the track but now the farm needs a proper barrier in place because the previous one failed, around here they put old farm trailers in the gate with no wheels dig the ditches back and put the spoil up as a batter.

The other trick that works really well is to stake an old phone pole along the line where you're going to dig the ditch, so it can’t be rolled away, & then bury it under the mound you make from the spoil dug out of the ditch. Stops the mound being shovelled back into the ditch to make a crossing point 👍

I knew of a farmer that went one step further and put a set of drag harrows down side up about 10 feet in from the gateway
