Have you a link to any scientific study that backs up the theory behind ‘rifle balance’ having effect on shooting accuracy? By this I don’t mean front to back rather than by reference to the barrel as an axis
Moderator is symetric on centre bore and has very little affect. Those seeking to improve the performance of their rifle will benefit, some rifles are balanced as it is, some are way out. Getting better or closer to balanced helps. Not really sure how this is applicable in most situations unless the shooter is willing or able to change magazines or scopes to alter weight balance. And what if magazine is empty, full, half empty.
What happens when a moderator is added?
It’s clever though.
Ok.Yes we have university studies with calculations etc however the physics of this is very basic and logic. Hit an object Center mass and it moves straight line, hit it off center then it will move off sideways. The further the COG is away from the line of recoil or centre bore the more launch angle change you will have.

Never mind that! What happens when 13stone of rifleman is attached to it at three points? What happens when a moderator is added?
Granted.It’s clever though.
Nothing, until the shoulder takes up recoil the bullet has left the barrel. Also muzzle brake or mod only comes into play after the bullet has left the barrel.Never mind that! What happens when 13stone of rifleman is attached to it at three points?
Granted.
I have just found this bavarian tv report about the specialist hall within IWA that only very special folks are allowed into all in German but to see how the businesses are ramping up.....
Yes, we need a bit more graphic explanation of forces and reaction. This little page we had at shot for a quick explanation.fascinating - Hopefully you'' do another video with a deeper dive into the effect.
Our goal this year is to completely change from older Gen stocks to our new Evolution method of stock making and reduce lead times. Upscaling is not easy as the process is complicated and either Peter or myself are strongly involved in the quality side of each stock but we will get there. Peter has yet to get a day off work this year....My mate said you'd be best spending your time making more stocks so he doesnt have to wait 5 months for one
and that how a product in such demand has not been upscaled to make them faster,
my mate, hes a right bugger![]()
No, try avoid lead. Just look at balance when setting up a rifle. Mostly stock side is too heavy. Of course the effect is more the further out you shoot. The issue is that a rifle which is not balanced over the bore will not be consistent if held differently. The balanced rifle will not or be less effected by forend hold etc. The calculations that were made with a 308 rifle had around 2" POI change at 100m on a COG off centre bore in one example. These 2" are no problem (can be zeroed on the scope) if the rifle is always held consistently, one reason why we see some shooters being much better than others. So assuming, all is correct, all of us using the Alpex are going to have to strap a lump of lead to the bottom of our rifles.
But, in real world terms, what would be the effect over 100 or 200 yards. Whilst you say the rifle moves 2mm. Is that up, or down, depending on balance?
