Hazel Doormouse seen?

Can anyone help me out here, is the spoke women for Country Food Trust saying that because 884 Fallow were culled the rare Hazel Door mouse was seen? I would say that 884 wouldn't have made that much difference unless of course these deer were ALL from a previous habitat the rare mouse was once present in, just seems a far out statement to make.

I totally support the rest of the vid though👍

We have edible dormice in Ashridge / Aldbury. They are known a Glisglis and are very protected.
If thy get into your house then you can’t get them out!!
Never seen one tho, but like other dormice they also like hazel coppices, and old thatched properties with suspended floors!!

There's loads more to hazel dormouse survival than broad sweeping statements scapegoating deer of any species. There's a lot of politically motivated stuff, mainly emanating from the public sector and leftie wildlife charities who benefit from taxpayer funds demonising deer at the moment, best taken with the proverbial pinch of salt!

I think you can apply for edible dormice as they are non native

All I know is that the people that I know who live in Aldbury who have them in their houses are not permitted to harm them in any way.
In old houses where they get between the floor boards or into the roof they drive the owners potty with all the scratching about a gnawing!!

Introduced by the romans, I believe.

Tell them to contact a decent pest control company, my guess is they have either been miss informed through ignorance or because a pest controller doesnt want the job
