Caught Today

I cant possibly do that...I have all the decoying kit for them and that is the best shooting I can ever think of...apart from in Wales where I have to leave magpies and rooks alone... :) 👍

Cant beat multiple aproachs
The ones caught in Larsens tend to be the dominant pair that mop song birds up in area
Decoyed ones tend to be mobile in groups

Get them all - Im out Sunday with the decoys actually

👍 I used to do a good bit with Larsens and Magpies ...it sort of broke my spirit when they were protected..just havent really bothered since.

Was thinking of decoying on the cleared silage fields in the morning but last session after fallow and need to catch up on some chores at home...maybe on second cut 👍

@jall55 yeah good thread mate. Not checked mine yet today, got all 3 larsens up and running now, 6 magpies so far. Will put a crow in my ground entry one in couple of weeks.

Also on Monday I'll be moving my fenns from catching rats around yard/feed out to hedgerow & dykes after weasel (will have sign warning stoats not to enter obviously!!)

I love trapping. Squirrels and rats are my targets. I wouldn't want to catch stoats or weasels although I have had the odd one as by catch

Caught 30 grey squirrels in February, Fenn traps in boxes up trees in a wood.
The boxes i made out of 6x1 timber and like bird boxes but the hole big enough for a squirrel and importantly the hole faces the tree trunk and the box is spaced off of the tree with 3 long screws.
Not had any bi-catch.
A couple of screw eyes screwed into the box for paracord to go through to strap to the tree. Roughly chest high up the trunk and baited with whole maize.

I do similar but mine are top opening. I found that birds were nesting in them at chest height but when I moved them down to knee height that put the birds off. Maize is the best bait by far I've found
