Finally biting the thermal bullet, and now I'm drowning in a sea of specifications that I don't fully understand.
Has anyone got any recommendations for the best value for money spotter for around £1500.

Cheers

Have you tried putting your search criteria into Chat GPT, it will massively help you make sense of all the information out there. Don’t ask me how I know 😉

That's a decent wedge for a first thermal. The question is, do you want a monocular or multispectral binoculars?

There's some stonking bins out there (I'm a full convert. Less to carry)

No, but thats a good idea. I might give that a go now 👍🏻
If you don’t have a subscription you’ll only be able to ask a few questions before it locks you out for 24 hours.

So start by putting as much info in as you can like type of land, quarry, budget, ranges etc etc. Another good one is to ask it to compare the models your thinking of and it will pull all the specs and list the pros and cons.

Absolute game changer for unbiased technical research 🤓

Within your budget is a MT1000LRF

35mm lens £1100
50mm lens £1300
75mm lens £1550

OR the twin pack which has a 35mm lens and a 50mm for £1500.

I have had a few people buy this so that they can use the 35mm as a dedicated spotter and then have the added flexibility to put the 50mm lens on when mounting the thermal on a rifle to use as a scope .....that's not to say the 35mm couldn't be use for both if required.

You get a 640x512 sensor with LRF and BC onboard for your budget.

I have more 35mm and 75mm lenses coming next week.

Happy to answer any questions 😊

It would be helpful to know what you are wanting to use it for so folk could advise more specifically. These days I just shoot roe so distances are not huge but I do like the inbuilt range finder.
I keep seeing some good SH thermals for sale on here, I’m guessing folk are tempted by new shiny toys, but there are good deals to be had new and SH.
Just take your time and ignore half of the technical blurb, it’s overwhelming, if you can, go look at a few locally.
I am a technological eejit, but even I got to grips with my old Pulsar and my new Infiray thermal.
Best of luck!

Jeez how deep do you want to go
I use a 19 mm HIK lynx which is less than half your budget and I find it superb and more than adequate for spotting

Literally just received this yesterday, the Mars mini

Multiple purpose thermal with 640x512 sensor, LRF and BC with a multitude of mounting options!

19mm or 25 mm lens available, the 25mm is £1550

Need an LRF?
HIK Condor 1.0 if there is any stock left
Condor 2.0 for a bit more cash

The new Falcon 35 is pretty good

Or the Axion XG35

All in stock

I got the H35R. It's compact and available from Blackwood Outdoors at a good price for an LRF spotter.
I have the H35 the non rangefinder model and really like the unit. I got it too cheap to turn down, but the H35R would be a fantastic unit for the money
