Hello from Nottinghamshire. I live in a small village near to Newark and have been shooting for over 50 years. I have recently renewed my FAC and have permissions over around 650 acres of arable land. I have several shotguns 12, 20 and 410 gauges and also have a high powered .30 and .25 cal PCP rifle with both glass and the latest Alpex Pro digital scopes. I mainly shoot vermin around local farm yards and land and enjoy clay pigeon shooting. My favoured pastime is walking up with my German Wirehaired Pointer quartering just ahead of me. I have joined the Stalking Directory to gain knowledge (and share knowledge if I feel I can add anything worthwhile). I have noticed over recent years a dramatic increase in the amount of deer around me including fallow, muntjac and roe sometimes as many as a dozen at a time where as a boy, it would be a very rare occasion indeed to catch a glimpse of even one. So as conditions change my shooting equipment and skills must adapt. Thank you for allowing me to join the stalking directory forum.

650 acres is huge!
Used to have a German Wirehaired Pointer. Absolute gem of a dog. I am super envious of you.
Welcome to the site.
Thank you, she is a great friend and oozes the natural instincts of a pointer. Just today, I watched her spot a fox playing on a headland at about 150 yds and stalk it to within 30 yards before she was detected… so rewarding to see.
This 650 acres isn’t that large a space really, it’s broken up into a number of parcels each with their own challenges, footpaths, bridleways and roads reduce the amount of good back stops, so limited shooting positions.
Luckily for me I have a 90 yard range under construction in my back garden which is my project for the summer. Soon I will have an all weather den in which to get plenty of practice with my new rifle and scope.

Good luck Greg, I hope you will share your experience with the Alpex Pro, I’m still waiting for the rifle to arrive to fix mine to so not even switched it on yet.
