Vehicle Underbody (Clear Coat) Protection

I'm mindful there are many vehicle 'experts' on SD so what is the best clear coat application out there in 2026?

To be clear I'm not interested in smothering everything in a black wax-oil as such is for those Landrover chassis that have reached their sell by date and will conseal a multiplicity of ills to the untrained eye.

I'm of a mind to do the application myself as having reached out to no less than 3 (three) so-called official Lanoguard Aplication Centres, not one has responded!

Thanks

K

Lanogaurd is easy as pie to apply yourself. I did my L200 with it a couple years back, and would use it again for sure.
Just don't apply it just before visiting a drive-thru safari park, the lions get VERY interested in where the sheep smell is coming from!! I won't make that mistake again! 😄😄

I've just watched the following:

Unless the testing is subject to manipulation of the AI or other variety there are two clear winners. That one of these products is said to be available in a clear format has all but made up my mind.

Very intresting that Lanoguard did not do well at all.

Tha5 was a good video K.
Might have to rethink in the future.

I was going to suggest Lanoguard.
Last year was my 1st year with it, must admit I was quite impressed with how easy it went on.
And still looks ok

I'm just about to give my pick up, quad and trailers a good pressure wash and retreat.
So I'll see wot the chassis looks like when i get under them.

I done the underside off my main quad trailer, and I'm impressed how much is still on as it spends a lot off time driving through rashy fields so I thought that would off rubbed it all away. Esp with rain or dew on the vegetation.

I will say I gave everything a hood hammeriting 1st before I treated with language so not onto bare metal.

1 thing I will add to any pick up owners, esp older.
Give ur spare wheel lifting mechanism a right good going over with lubricant.
They can be a bugger to lower if full of dirt/rust.
My last pick up i had to cut spare off with a grinder.
Lucky I check as soon as I buy a pick up.

A lot of the landrover geeks round here swears by Buzzweld. it doesn't rub off, but not transparent. Nephew used it, he reckons its holding up!

Whichever you chose to go with, make sure that you have properly cleaned & dried the chassis etc before applying. I had a D2 done some years back now by a chap who still advertises nationally and who gives a 10 year guarantee for his ‘improved’ product. He pressure washed the chassis but it was neither clean or dry before he applied the black gloop to it & within a few years I had a very rusty chassis as it’d trapped moisture, dirt & road salt under the coating…

Easy if DIY, harder if outsourcing, as you can’t really say that to someone - please make sure you do a good job, 👏 😂

I put my post up as a bit of advice - I was naive as regards the process & relied on what his advertising said he'd do… but which he didn’t. With better understanding now I realise that a same day turnaround should have rung the alarm bells! When I had the V8 done it was with the C C Automotive for a week & 6 years later it’s evident he did a very good job on it 😎

I'm just in the process of doing my l200 underneath.
Stone chip not bitumus Shultz for the chassis and under panel's.
then a mixture of homemade tallow thinned with hbo and warm sprayed for the internal chassis and backs of the panels.
key thing is to make sure all the drain holes are free.
