Washing a rucksack

Had a little mishap with a flask of milk that was in my Shooterking Venator rucksack.
I immediately rinsed it out with cold water, then chucked a load of pure soap flakes in, more water, and sloshed it all about to clean it. Got inside all the pockets with soapy water, absolutely everywhere.
Rinsed it thoroughly with a hose pipe, hung it upside down to drain and dry.

Problem is, it still stinks!
Like, makes me feel actually sick kind of stinks.
I really don't want to bin this great sack, so has anyone got any secret tips for how to effectively and thoroughly wash a rucksack without losing the waterproofing or trashing it.

Considering taking to a dry cleaners or something, but I don't know what they could do.

Cheers

Jim

Hi I spilled milk in the door well of my car. And the carpet stunk for weeks.
Apparently, its the fat globules in milk cause the stink?
You need a Pro bacteria cleaner or start drinking Almond milk ?

Most supermarkets have Wash me laundry bases. The big machines take 20 kg. Costs £11.
Put it in on a 60 c wash plus anything else you need washing. Takes 45 mins and you get a txt 5 mins before the cycle finishes.

With water or just dry?

Dry. Let the bicarb do the work.

If you're starting over I think I'd soak the whole rucksack in a bucket of water with biological washing powder, let it steep for 24 hours. Was shown that trick for cleaning pans, it's just allowing the enzymes to do their work 👍

So I did this - 2 pints of milk into the footwell of the car.
Thought I would have to get rid of the car it was that bad and all the cleaners didn’t touch it.

Sorted it with an enzyme cleaner - you get it for killing urine, blood, milk spills and the smells etc -
Get the enzyme cleaner and soak it in the bath.

I had a gallon jug of milk keel over beside me on the bench seat of my Chevy pick up (nowhere else in the single cab for it to go) in New Mexico really stank and the residual smell never left the truck even after another two odd years of ownership, so glad the used car salesman who took the truck off my hands never did do a test drive in it.
