Alpex pro info that might be of interest

I'll be honest, not sure why that would be news to anyone?

Technical specs on the Pro vs the 4K didn't indicate that it was superceding the 4K.

True but most assumed it would be . As said the lens specs clearly showed the differences between the too and the areas where the new model was lacking.

The best side by side review i have seen here

I bought myself a PRO thinking it was the natural progression and was going to superseed the 4k as my foxing scope, i am a little disaapointed but it is still good, what it lacks in NV quality it makes up with the better focus adjustment, zoom and speed of turning on.

i am also going to use it for stalking as is on my 243 so it's a compromise. i fit my 4k to my 22LR and will now leave it on

however i am curious to see what the Nocpix D70 is like when released maybe this month, from first impressions it is a more designated NV scope. i'd consider moving the Alpex Pro on and purchasing one once i have seen one first hand. A mate of mine has got one on pre order.

I wonder how many people just got fed up with the false promises of release dates from Nocpix and got an Alpex instead. Time will tell with Nocpix...but it would probably help if they actually released the scopes :)

Surely if the Pro was designed to be a stalking scope the low/last light performance would be equal or better than the 4K? after all thats why most stalkers moved from glass to the Alpex to maximise the last few minutes of legal light where glass struggled, plus the mag is a little higher and field of view is narrower, not great for woodland stalking.
The difference in daytime isn’t massive as the 4K is perfectly usable so you pays your your money ect.

As you know PP I have a C50 and a 4k I only use them for the first and last knockings to me the C50 is better for this task than any of them, night I don't do with scopes that need an additional ir, for that task I use a pard nv008 on my 17 rem and it does just fine.

What I would say is the 4k is definitely the best value for your buck no doubt about that, and if I'm honest it's splitting hairs at dusk against the pulsar but it just pips it and has better reticles and generally overall better build.

As regards the pro it has it's advantages image and field of view aside, it's lighter has side focus and traditional mag ring and that might swing it for some.

I think you are right, we are literally splitting hairs now, there’s no longer a massive gulf between them.
