As above, chambered in the impressive. .45-70.
I bought the gun new just before covid for humain dispatch and in this regard it does not disappoint, feels like it could drop an elephant!
Consequently its done very little (compared with one used for blasting down a range)
As with all my kit this rifle is immaculate, a real cabinet queen, the only reason im selling is because its not screw cut and itll need the mag tube shortened to achieve this, so a fair bit of work.
Ive seen all the threads about remling 1895s and that was perhaps true with the early models but this particular gun is very well put together, ive never had any greavence with it.
Ill attach some photos later this evening but if you're interested pm me and ill give you a full tour.
These things are selling for over £1700 now so id guess £1400 is a good starting point.
Id insist on an rfd transfer but that shouldn't be an issue, I just dont want folk coming to my house, if you're near game and country I can put it in the shop for you to look over too.

Thanks.

Very nice! My late remlin 357 CSBL is an incredibly smooth rifle, thankfully someone else already put a thread on it so I didn't have to go through the pain.

I'll pass this onto a mate who's after a 45-70 lever gun.

Late Remlins are the same as the current Ruger manufactured ones, built on the same machine etc,
My M1 in 45/70 shoots fantastically and is factory threaded,

They aren’t the same, fit and finish is better on the ruglins, foresight is different and they come factory threaded.

Doesn’t mean they’re not good rifles though, I have the same as the OP and it does everything I need it to.

I’ve loaded up some 300 grain FMJ heads which should go around 2000 FPS,
Going to try at 600 on Figure 11’s at Lydd on Sunday,
Just needs to be dialled or ladder sighted as opposed to aiming at various clouds over the target!
Even with a 6 power scope the target is difficult to see,

I shot 405 cast at 300 yards with mine running at 1600 fps, using a PM2 3-12, something like 7.2 mil of drop from memory so 600 is going to be a lot of drop!!

My Dope was using a 405 to and I could get to 400 but it used all my elevation at 45moa
Got hits regularly at 500 but this was around 65moa and required coming down the ret,
I generally use Mills but the 45/70 has a low power 1-6 scope in the first focal,
So at 600 the target will be difficult to see but doable I hope !
Amazing really out of a 16’ barrel!
And apologies to the OP, for hijacking your thread,
Wish you well with the sale
Wether Rugers are better or not late Remlins are great guns so deserve to be treated as such,
