Converted, from a No4 Mk1 or 1*, by Charnwood Ordnance in 1988, serial number 024. Rear face of bolt handle normally reflects this serial number.
Thanks for more info its certainly interesting, it is full length wood. I shall get some more pics now I know what to look for.
Steve.

As another has said its a Charnwood Ordnance conversion. This will mean it loads 7.62mm NATO from their dedicated pattern stripper clips AND will properly eject the spent cases when the bolt is worked.

This is very much not a Parker Hale gash job that won't do either. On the Charnwood rifle a correctly placed ejector screw and charger guide replaced the original sized for .303 ammunition.

And of course the magazine is a correct Sterling magazine as Sterling made the kits Charnwood Ordnance used. The barrel also has lugs for the No4 bayonet of various patterns.

The sights from memory may or may not have been also re-marked out to 600 yards? These have made £400 in the right auction but as ever only if the barrel is still in good condition.
