Just attenpted to adjust trigger pull. Its the variant 1 with just front screw. Even with the screw and bolt removed ive got nearly 4lb of pull. Any ideas on lighting it or is it replacement time to improve?

Trim the spring back a coil or two.

If its the same trigger as a howa1500.

Thats what I did anyway

It may just need a clean or the allen bolt may need a tighten . I believe the Vangaurd has the HACT trigger as it's literally a Howa 1500 with a better finish . The HACT has a single adjustment screw for pull weight only . They're not too tricky to work on , I recommend a spring kit . They used to be available from Gun Bloke on eBay for about £15 and take about a week to arrive .The kit contains 2 springs , one for the 1st stage , one for the 2nd . It's worth placing it in a clear poly bag when disassembling , and polishing the sears lightly whilst in bits .
It's worth noting , the trigger requires some spring tension to function . Otherwise the safety will fail for one .
Make sure you don't lighten the pull to the point of it being dangerous. Always, slam fire and drop test on an empty chamber after any adjustment .
Failing the above , I believe Brock and Norris will rework it for a price or buy a replacement .
Hope you get it sorted .

With my vanguard I removed the spring and fitted a lighter one. You can measure the length, diameter and wire thickness then go shopping or hunting for one lighter.
Shortening the factory spring isn't correct, it will be the same sort of weight but be hairy between to light and to heavy again.
