Wanted: Broken Grey’s Missionary 10’3” #6/7 Fly Rod

So…….retirement is looming and I want to get back into fly fishing again. A long time ago in a Galaxy far, far away, I broke my Grey’s Missionary 10’3” #6/7 rod. I recall going back to Grey’s about their guarantee and I ended up with a GR70 10’ #7 4-piece rod as a replacement as the Missionary was no longer made. I used that a few times but it just didn’t feel right.

So, daft question, is there anyone out there in a similar position with an incomplete Missionary in the same size who’d be prepared to sell me their bits hopefully making up a complete rod from the two? I recollect that Grey’s hung onto one of the good pieces when they replaced the rod but hell, I really like that rod on small trout 🙇‍♂️

I'm sure you'll have already thought about it, John Norris of Penrith sometimes has some interesting second hand rods, as does Fawcetts Country Sports (Fawcettsonline.com).
If you're interested, I have a Sharpe's of Aberdeen 9' 3" #7 (3 piece) rod in excellent condition that isn't getting used, but good luck with finding a spare for your Missionary.
I'm surprised Hardy's/Greys in Alnwick couldn't be more help as they always used to keep the mandrels for their rods (when they were produced in the UK).
