38/357

I am looking at getting a 38/357 for hunting in the uk but with the new none lead rules coming in is it worth it ?
Is anyone shooting none lead currently?
What’s available and I’m looking at the the Henry big boy x as the rifle what should I look out for ?

Hi, I'm looking at a similar scenario, I can shoot lead at the range but for fox, I’ll need copper so will probably need to look at homeloading. I'm also looking at 44SPL/ 44 Mag as well as that is OK for small deer.

A friend has his 38/357 for muntjac so I know it can be done with lead just trying to gauge the non lead situation before I jump into it. I have no issues home loading as I do that with my bolt actions an I suspect I would go down that route.

Would they be ok in a lever action though with them bullet head tips ?

Very interesting
I'd of thought they wouldn't touch a primer.

It's a bit of an overhyped thing anyway.
As long as a lever gun has it's original mag tube spring there is no percussion going on in there under recoil.

It's taken some serious attempts to get it to happen.
The real dangerous ones are like the original Henry, not the ones we have today.
Their mag tube follower could be compressed and held open.
If once some rounds were loaded and the follower released and NOT controlled it acted as a hammer on the stack of ammunition.

I’ve got a few lever action rifles

Henry Big Boy Steel 38/357 brilliant
Remlin 44 Spl/44 mag excellent quality
Marlin Trapper 45/70 excellent

And now a variation for a 45 colt lever action rifle, I’d prefer marlin if I could get one 🤞
