M77 MK11... a cult classic , brother has one in 220 Swift, it should be fcuked if you read the Gun Digest Book of Gunsmithing Stuff... 35 years old, maybe more, never looked after it properly since he picked it up, shot thousands of rounds through it, and he can still shoot 3/4" groups off the bonnet of his motor .

Yeah its indestructible & soooo accurate. Im no craic shot but this rifle just nails it everytime.

After buying a second hand sako75 20vartarg. My other 20cal rifle - sako75 204ruger hasn't been out much. But its deadly accurate and a keeper.

Savage 12 LRPV , .204, single shot, 26” 1 inch thick barrel, one of the most accurate tack driving rifles I’ve owned, use it with a Nocpix h50r it’s amazing, had the rifle for years, shot a huge amount of foxes with it, hand loaded and factory, just one ragged hole 100 yards or more. One of my favourite calibres, next to the .220 swift.

I wasn’t sure if I had this photo but just found it from 2019 scope change believe or not because I didn’t at the time lol this is a three shot group with my howa 204r it still to this day is the best three shot group I have ever done

Thanks for all the replys guys , I wasnt sure how nice the Ruger American 2 is , I shoot a tikka T3 in 270 , I probably shouldn't compare tikka and Ruger, I think the trigger on the Ruger will be heavy to what I'm used to on the tikka even after adjustment, I have seen a few howa for sale so that is a possibility I guess

The risk is not its performance , its the fact other makers have not yet really jumped in besides to support it longer term future . I would be buying a lot of the ideal bullets and cases to see me through its barrel lifetime in ammo , which is likely to be ? ?????

Ive not had experience with rugers , the American gen 2 looks good, i wasn't to sure how accurate they are out the box, trigger is a bit heavy so I've read ,I would probably put a new one in or change the spring, and if the bolt was smooth operating, some people say it's good and others not so great

I use 32gr factory round, Hornady Vmax. Rifle loves them.

Mate has a Tikka .204. Doesn't like heavy bullets.
I have a Savage Weather Warrior 16
Barrel replaced last June. Dasherman fitted a 22' 1:10 Bartelin. It loves 40 grns and also shoots 50 grn Bergers so roe legal in Scotland.
Its silly accurate and a so easy to clean.
Minimal recoil and very quiet so ideal in semi urban environments.
Reload using either Nosler or Norma brass.
I use mine almost exclusively at night for fox control with dedicated NV.

I usually shoot 40 grn Varmint Express in my Mike Norris built 204, but I'm about to switch to 32grn for fox, simply because I have some. I was interested to see that you have used 50 Bergers. How did you find them overall, and what load did you use?

Cheers mate, I have read that most rifles like the 32s over the 40s, seems weird to me that hornady would do a 40gr when ruger are making there factory rifles 1:12 twist

That is true - having had both
The only thing is the extra noise and a little more recoil with 22.250 - i know its not much recoil but the 204 lets you see the strike every time

As yet not much testing with 50 grn Berger but 26 grn Varget produced 1 hole group. 50grn Bergers out of production now they were a special run.
