Neighbour releasing rats near my livestock

We have been told that a neighbour has regularly (twice a week) been releasing trapped rats in our woods, right by where we keep our pigs. There is a public footpath through the woods.

We confronted him today and he was aggressive and mostly denied it.

I plan on calling our animal health contact at the council tomorrow, but has anyone experienced similar and what was the outcome?

Thanks

Sorry to hear this, the RSPCA release foxes as a friend caught a guy just opening the "white van" door with cages of them, shot a number of them with no nuts also the vixens with the shaven belly and stich marks.
Good luck with the AH contact

Speak to environmental health and get them to visit his property as if the rats are coming from there then they can force him to put poison bait stations down.
Had this with a dick of a neighbour who dumps crap in his paddock which creates perfect homes for rats.

This is what I was hoping, just wanted to know if it was a realistic expectation really.

When I told him that he should be killing them he started off with “I would never kill anything” and when I said it again later he went with “I can’t afford another trap”…

Release some rat baits ? As for town foxes they have normally been done easy tell as they just sit there waiting for the bin man !!! Poor buggers.Once knew a lad around Birmingham from a well known gunshop that charge £60 a night to lamp them ?

I would be careful with rodenticide, from the description only 1 would be legal.
Eho is a good shout, pest and vermin act is i think what you need them to enforce

Nutter:cuckoo:

Get some proof and then off we go, because as far as I'm aware its illegal to release without permission, also depends on the type of rat; if its black rat, it falls under the same category as squirrels and then your off to the races!

What law is that?
