Yesterday I managed to buy another whole lamb at auction at the 3 Counties show. This time we went for a native breed. £200 and £20 to butcher. Roasted a small half shoulder this evening and it was very tasty and delicate. Lots of v keen bidding cheapest went for £164 but average about £180/£190.

Given the current LW price of prime lambs, I reckon you got that cheap!
I sold a pen of poor hoggs at 39.5kg through the live market last week, and they made £160/head.
Prime springers on the same day were doing up to (and even a bit over) £200
Whoever sold you that lamb won't have covered their slaughter costs over and above what the lamb would have fetched at market.

It worked out at £11 kg.
Supermarket leg would be in the order of £18 kg chops £20 kg.
Probably pushing £275 if not more. But supermarket are probably Texels this was a native breed and was judged v well see picture.
So we saved money and got a v high class product.

Boxed lamb from Welsh producer £200 for 14 kg lamb.
Currently costs £50 to slaughter and butcher.

I did know that yours would be cheaper. I just did a run online here and saw that leg prices here are circa £10 and our chop prices not a great deal cheaper than yours. There`s nothing better of course than running a few of ones own.

Agree
Two of my perms have sheep and sell a few lambs prices are minimum £9.50p kg. Some UK online suppliers prices are in the stratosphere look at Dorset Meat Co web site!
