As I was heading down a track this morning through broken country I spotted a deer that was then ID as a velvet spikey trotting ahead of me. I stopped he stopped and I drove closer with the idea that he would stop behind a tree for a pic. However he kept going and as the track ended a few 100 yards further I went past him thinking I would get him going back the other way. It took me a couple of minutes to turn around and off I went but couldn't see him at all then after 200 yards driving it was a "**** me " here he is on the ground at the foot of the farm fence with the steel post with a big bend in it.....he quivered and that was it. Broke his neck as evidenced by the massive blood/bruising mass.
I thought he would have been fatter, there was a fair amount of caul fat but not as it should be. I imagine the testosterone factor has had him racing for a chance all over the shop wearing the fat off. Italian mate is gonna take him to make snags.
