Registered for DSC2

I'm just super keen at the moment and want to get cracking with it.
Am looking forward to it and have revised lots so far.

I did mine 2 years ago completed it in 2 weeks with the help of our FC ranger, I typed up my stalks and attached pictures of the bucks then stuck them in my portfolio, the assessor (chap from auchtErarder) was brand new. My tip is is download the best practice guides and include as many potential question/answers as possible in your write ups and. when you get the call make sure you have your portfolio near you.

Yep think you are right mate!

Tell me this whats the big hurry you don't even need a portfolio, to get started it can be written up at anytime ,it is called photocopying, the pages, all this typing pish about where you should have got it from is crap, it wont come any faster and when it has to go back you'll have ****ed the IV off that much he'll red line everything for questioning you big time .

It is not a race, it is a worthless piece of paper which is well over estimated, one of the only reasons people actually have it is for forestry commission leases it isn't required for anything else , it most certainly isn't required by law ,it is a money making exercise for DMQ, and the rest of the providers.

Ah yes the best time of the year to complete it is during the doe season, or late winter when their in family groups , one buck holding a territory in long grass and well covered areas is a huge challenge ,and of course not to forget huge expense per point which was the topic of debate on here not so long ago mmmm.

If they question it thats fine. I want to get it started and hopefully finished this year. I asked for the AW list so i could start trying to arrange some stalks in June when i'll be available to do them.

Hey bob don't start the money per point again lol or centimeter or gram lol. Bob is correct no rush more important to be ready for it. May i ask how many deer you have done to Best Practice standard getting ready for an AW stalk.

Looks like i'll be paying for aw stalks to try and get it completed.
Have got a list of AW's and i know a few of em so i'll start sorting it out very soon!

Daz Three is not many mate and if it were me i would have got quite a few more under my belt before i tackled lev 2. Saying that there are more than a few who have just done a couple of stalks and got straight in to the DMQ

Yep i would like to get a few more done but i want to get cracking with the level 2 too.
I would prefer to get a couple of stalks done with an AW as "trial runs" first - before getting the portfolio sorted.
But i've also heard of people doing their level 2 straight after their level 1.

Can i ask how many you would suggest?
Thanks

Thanks to Ianf for the reply to my question.
I passed level 1 in 2008 so think the time is right to progress on to the level 2.
After registering at a cost of £120 - i will make sure to have it completed within the 3 year time span allowed.

Thanks

Daz

Daz it is your decision when to send for your portfolio and the time starts then. I my self would be looking for some one to have stalked many deer correctly with out a guide who was confident in all PC on the dmq assessment portfolio. I have had to in the past stop a witnessed assessment because the candidate did not come close to standard. I didn't like doing it and the chap didn't like getting told he was below standard . So make sure you are competent and you will do fine .
