Batch two of 'The Stalking Knife'

As these are all ordered, the next batch will be a while, I thought I would do the build along in here this time.

The blades are to arrive shortly, so I have got the handles started, the liners are going on after the holes have been drilled today. I wanted to show the scales cut last night but Photobucket wasn't playing.

The wood always looks boring at this stage, but as you may have seen from the previous batch they shine up nicely.

Just have to add. ALL ten blades from batch two are spoken for, if anyone else is interested it'll have to be batch 3 I'm afraid.

I am cracking on with these, four sets of handles are laminated, cut and have the front edges shaped, prior to polishing. The rest are being laminated to their liners prior to cutting and shaping.

Nine blades here, two more to go and batch three has several people on the list and the knives on order.

Thanks for the support, orders and interest chaps.

Thanks for posting, and watching with interest;)
Just out of curiosity,do the liners coome in different colours.

The liners come in black and red - that is yours with the clamp on with black liners, being drilled ready for attaching to the blade.

Left to right

Golden Buckeye, black buckeye, amboyna, Welsh sycamore, spalted birch and Micarta (not wood). Well, they are like wood, they have a history of being wood but have been stabilised.

This means that they are effectively acrylic, so they won't shift, shrink, expand or be absorbant. Pretty and nice and hygenic

Dry fit - ready for epoxy and lanyard tubes:

Once the epoxy is on it's time to start the liners on the next ones.

Four knives have been rough sanded, two more have the liners laminated and the other five have been cut to shape, ready for laminating and then affixing. This is where the progress makes leaps and bounds. I expect the first four to be a couple of weeks out.

They are in the ziplock bags to ensure they have all the correct components and have less chance of me losing something.

Four more done, there are only three here as one had to have some natural holes filled that only appeared after sanding. It has them filled with superglue now.

These have a little more work to do before they go out, including the polishing edges, beveling lanyard holes and sheaths. So I hope to get them out this time next week, there are five more on the way which should be all within the next four weeks. I don't think I've ever worked on this many knives at once before, nor gone through this much abrasive!

Righto - two more have now gone into the - awaiting finer grit - section.

Black buckeye and golden amboyna, with red and stainless, brass and black, respectively.

Stunning wood that really doesn't show at this stage, elbow grease here we come.....

With everyone looking at the GM knives site and commenting on the damascus, wonder if it would be worth doing a few of these in damascus?
