I love rifles, I love classic rifles, and I love to build them...but, IMVHO, this is overdone, it's become too much of a piece of 'show'. in fact, it probably was just built as a collectors show piece as surely nobody would bring this into the field, and certainly not be expecting to be taken seriously.
it seems more like it's a glorified engraver at work than a rifle builder, as it's just a bog standard magnum mauser, stock and action, etc.
very fancy work and clearly and amazingly skilled artisan, but way over the top for me.
in my book you cannot beat a good old sporterized mauser 98. with a custom walnut stock, ebony, rust bluing, silvers pad and a hand rubbed oil finish. nothing more is needed to create classic functional beauty.
