Loss of Etiquette on Stalking Directory

Brilliant
whats wrong with cut n' paste !! SO I FOUND this might help folks to get over themselves:--

Being a 'know-it-all' is a form of bullying even if that is not the intention. The know-it-all has an opinion on everything regardless of whether they actually know anything about the subject or not. You know the type: something is self-evidently true purely because they happen to think it.
Know-it-alls are bombastic, opinionated and bad at listening.
What the know-it-all lacks is the humility to say: "I do not know enough about this to form a proper opinion", or "You may be right because you have more experience in this area than I do" Know-it-alls are on set on 'transmit' most of the time. They are not up for receiving input from others. They want to be the ones giving out, transmitting their pearls of 'wisdom'. What they don't know isn't worth knowing and when they do learn something well… according to them, they knew it already.
The know-it-all may be a highly intelligent person but their know-it-all attitude makes them narrow minded and less and less able to learn as the years roll by.
The obvious solution seems to be to avoid the know it all as they have a great way of putting other people down by implication. In other words if they know everything then you know nothing. Or anything you do know you know because of them. That's the way they can make you feel.
The know-it-all can damage your self-esteem because there is something compelling about certainty. The trouble is they can feel hard to deal with especially if they happen to be your boss or the person you live with.
Being a know-it-all is a form of greed. Wanting to take all credit and direct all things at all times regardless of other people is like someone grabbing all the food at the table.
The know-it-all may take on board other peoples' ideas but then claim them as their own or say that 'everyone knew that any way.' They are in fact greedy over ownership of knowledge.) END

So what can we take from that ! just being a know it all also can make you an asshole as well.

this thread was flawed fundamentally from the beginning....there can be no loss of etiquette on the SD...there was never any in the first place. if you want etiquette, go shoot pheasants....

We could call it the 'SDC1 & 2'

SDC 1 would be a basic qualification for forum users. It would be a largely knowledge based qualification which would enable candidates to demonstrate their understanding of basic internet forum posting and etiquette, and to show the uttmost respect to other forum members with over 1000 posts that are clearly 'Experts' in the field.
Even experienced forum users would have to go back and sit this qualification as there would be no 'Grandfather Rights' granted to anyone - not even Admin!!
Once registered, candidates would have three years to complete the assessment modules, but they can be completed in one day if you are off-sick from work or just simply have no life and spend most of it on the SD. Time spent with 'Account suspended' would still count!
Holders of SDC 1 may sell in the classified section as long as they have 30 posts, but may not be trade members. However, simply posting '+1' on 30 posts will make you a candidate for a SDC 2 cull member - see below!
The SDC1 is a prerequisite for SDC2.

SDC 2 is a practically based qualification which enables candidates to demonstrate their knowledge and competence in legally, safely and humanely dealing with idiots that spout utter Bollox constantly!
The candidate will be required to identify and successfully ban any junior member, anti, or troll who oversteps the mark on the forum. He should also be able to deal with any subsequent appeal and then complete any paperwork required. The candidate will have to ban at least three complete ****s within a three year period.
The SDC 2 will be assessed on the basis of evidence of the number of bans that a candidate makes. Once registered, candidates have three years to submit the SDC 2 portfolio, any evidence that is more than 3 years old will not be considered.
SDC 2 is a stand alone qualification but is aligned with the various shooting related forums and can be used as evidence towards any application to become an administrator.
The SDC 2 qualification would also be the minimum requirement to hold a lease in the Trade Membership section.

After completion of both SDC 1 & 2, you may wish to consider taking the Forum Managers course which was originally 5 days long, but has now been reduced to 3 days due to other providers cutting corners to make it cheaper and therefore more available to those that want something for nothing which then becomes worthless!

I jest of course!;)

Perhaps we should prepare for the splitting SD into Highland and Lowland sections with Scottish independence just around the corner and with a suitably robust firewall to ensure zero cross contamination?

Thereafter Lowlanders may be free to discuss the 22 Hornet without fear of being blown of course by open hill boomers.

I'd pine for Red-Dot though!

Its not to long ago, on Stalking Directory that if you asked a question, then that was the question that was answered, and answered with wisdom and experiance.....

It's hard to take this post seriously given the grammatical errors in the first three words alone. Apostrophes don't seem to feature in your written etiquette or knowing when to use 'too'.

In terms of posting frequency, I don't pay any attention to it. Some folk say very little, but when they do comment it's of note. Similarly there are some very knowledgeable folk on here.

And a most excellent jest too!

Despite its dodgy premise, this thread has brought out some responses to relish from some of SDs finest.

PM.

please keep posting about you culinary exploits - they're a mouth-watering read for even those of us who lack the aptitude to emulate them - as well as being a valuable reminder of the range of pleasures, among the other benefits, that stalking offers.

One of the effects of entering the Site is that you have to leave grammar and spelling at the door.....though some get to swap it for pedantry apparently ;)

yup spelling at the door is a must my spelling is shocking ,even my 8yr old girl corrected me the other day lol but i told her this is what happens when you mess around at school and dont listen to the teachers .but i am fairly good with numbers and monney so it serves me quite well .I think richard branson is a bad speller as well ????

Well I think the etiquette is not doing too badly compared to a short while ago, this is page 8 and as of yet there has been nothing to earn anyone a caution, no posts deleted and nobody culled, a remarkable achievement. I expect it will now all go mammary glands elevated because I said that, but I don't care I have a lot of posts :)

Gladly, although given the chance I'd prefer to write more articles about actually stalking! But then Mrs PM recently said that there wasn't much point in me going after a roe buck if we hadn't finished eating all the muntjac and CWD in the freezer. Which shows how she views this whole exercise, but that's not too far off with my approach: if I'm not going to eat it, I don't really have to shoot it. Anyway, I've now managed to empty the extra freezer, which leaves it available for a roe buck in July, should Artemis smile on me.
