Conquest failure

If you do post it to a friend in the US make sure you get a receipt of postage. You don't want to get caught for Vat when they send it back to you.

bewsher500,
It may be worthwhile talking to Gregor at Macleod of Tain. Perhaps he has some experience with this issue. He may also be able to get someone to take action for you. Or as I mentioned see if you can get it repaired by a private optics repairer over here.

its less than 2 months old
without wanting to be rude, any more than postage and I am buggered if I am paying to get it repaired!
this is a warranty issue whichever way you slice it

Checking the scope out on another rifle will definitely prove if the scope is ****ed or if there is some other problem.

I intend to stick it on my .22 and "shoot the box" to prove it doesn't track

I had a problem with objective lens misting on one of my conquest scopes. You get lifetime worldwide warranty, but only Zeiss US can service them. Procedure is to return the scope to place of puchase and then it gets sent to Zeiss. I guess it is to avoid duty charges. I just sent the scope to the shop I bought it from and they dealt with the rest. Original proof of purchase was attached and parcel marked as warranty repair and I never got charged any additional duty fee. All took 3 weeks including shipping. Very pleased with the service. I know it is a bit pain in the neck, but I knew that before I bought it. It was best scope for the money at that time, even including hassle with warranty repair. Both scopes have target turrets and no problems with tracking.

bewsher500,
glogin has had experience with these scopes and has had success with warranty repair. Might be best to follow his advice. Best of luck hope you get everything squared away.

Hi Ed
My understanding from my recent Z-DE communications is that subsequent owners can register the scope in their name for use should the need arise - I am in this process at the moment for a couple of preowned Z-Conquest brought from individuals rather than a retailer, albeit Zeiss.DE have sent the details on to Z-US to register so await outcome.

I thought I read on the forum about a guy that services and repairs optics and scopes here in the UK, might be worth a search. .

I use, and recommend, a chap called Paul Burke (please PM me for his details) and he does excellent work and is very reasonable. He even resurrected a scope I was sure was dead!.He does for the Police and a good number of other of "official" type people.

Northwest,
Thats the guy! Thanks I was trying to remember the name. Can you please PM me his contact details just in case... Probably good for us all to have his number.
