I like to carry a few extra rounds and have found a useful, silent helper in the form of a Pyramid bamboo cane safety cone, hold 3 rounds, safely, protects SP's, keeps them quiet, works for both live and fired rounds. Readily available at garden centres for about 20 pence.

Might work for some stalkers and no more chinking rounds in the pocket.

Top tip! ;)

Well that went down well - clearly jangling chinking bullets and bumped SP's are a universal concern.

You are all very welcome and thank you for the encouraging response to my first post.

I'm tempted to see if these might be custom contoured to a specific round within the case size they are clearly suited:

Using DUMMY rounds lightly coat with grease, insert and apply heat from a paint stripper without melting the plastic. Allow to cure.

It may or may not work by contraction alone (as per heat shrink tube) but if you can get the cone to a temperature that would allow gentle finger moulding as per wet leather forming they could be teased into shape and look the dogs dangled bits.

Oh course this might be a bum steer and in consequence considered a load of old b*****ks!

Let us know how you get on with the heat treatment - at 30 pence a pop you can afford a few goes for the price of a pint.

I have no idea what a "Pyramid bamboo cane safety cone" is, but is looks neat.

I have posted photos of leather cartridge wallets and belt pouches before, two shirts which hold to rifle shells above the left pocket, and an old jacket which holds six over your heart ( designed by Ernest Hemingway in the 1930s).

But here is a great and cheap pouch for shotgun, rifle, or drilling. It is by Allen, made of Codura nylon, with a a quiet latch ( no Velco ). It will hold 28 to 12 gauge shells in all the loops, and rifle cartridges from .22-250 to .458 Win Mag in the upper loops.

they seem better than leather wallets ,i bought two leather and left some fired brasses in them the wallets were in a oilskin jacket pocket and the brass greened over and pitted the cases

This Codura wallet will slip onto your belt, but you can also carry it unlatched in your coat pocket and just reach in and get a shotgun shell or a rifle cartridge.

Most of my hunting coats have shell loops inside the outer cargo pockets on each side, but the wallet is nice for days when just wearing a shirt or sweater, or taking my coat off in the middle of the day, since I have two different combination guns and a single shot rifle or two.

Before I found this, I had cut up the plastic carrier from a Federal box and put it inside an old leather cell phone holster I had bought at a thrift shop for $1.00. It holds three cartridges. The flap "snap" is magnetic - easy and quiet.
