Re tattoo fad

I got a few wished'n' I did't nih on lost a job fair few years ago as I took my jacket of at a meeting with a man and ink hater as a boss ? she complained about my tats so I complained how plane she was and a drab human being , just had to keep closed up after that ????? real turn off on faces etc pins etc , and at 60 yrs old they look like a painting by that guy who draws them like there melting  even more horrid on old girls

I am wondering if I am alone in hating the desecration of the bodies we are born with for no obvious good reason other than keeping up with the pack/rabble by having huge multicoloured tattoos on many visible body parts.
Lord knows whats hidden.
As an old fart they make me uncomfortable as it always suggests sublime aggression in a pikey kind of form to me.
I may have stirred up a hornets nest but it bothers me and had to vent the old spleen but know I cannot change the worlds direction.
Martin

Don't take myself for an aggressive pikey type, (in whatever form) everyone has their views and are equally entitled to them. But if that's what you judge people on then more the pity you. It's not what's on the surface you know, qualities in people are much more than that.

I have to say I'm a fan of tattoos. I have a couple myself and am currently part way through a fairly large free hand piece. There are some very talented artists out there producing some great pieces of art.

I am now working for a Japanese company and based in Bratislava.
Years ago one of the clay modellers I knew on the contracting circuit went to Japan and was put up in a nice hotel, he puts his cags on and goes down to the pool and emptied it in doublequick time. The hotel manager asked him to always wear a T shirt to hide his tattoos when he swam as the guests thought a Yakuza was swimming around.

I had the good fortune to spend a week working in Japan and on the first night was put up in a very good hotel in Tokyo. I woke really early the next morning and wanting to absorb myself in Japanese culture went down to the traditional communal baths to bathe/shave etc and wondered why I was getting strange looks and people averted their gaze when I smiled and said good morning, I assumed it was because I was a westerner. It was only on the way out that I saw the sign saying no tattoos and put 2&2 together, it probably does not help that I have lost my little finger. needless to say I kept covered up after that.

Seriously?!
If that's all you have to get vented up about , I think you have a pretty sound lot!
I don't have massive tattoos but if others want to , hey ho go for it, many of society's most respected are covered under their clothing ....
The surgeon who saved your life ..."
You meet him on a weekend with a short sleeved T- shirt on and he's covered in tattoos.....
That make him any less the miracle worker to you?

As my House Master used to say " Only Sailors and Secondary modern pupils have Tattoos which one would you like to be?"

And as for (Tramp Stamps) Tattoos on Women reminds me of when I was a Hells Angel & we used to get the Hoes to get " Property of Asphalt Apache" tattooed across various parts of their anatomy... not much has changed

All my family, 6 generations ex soldiers WW1, WW2, Aden, Radfan, Borneo, Brunei, Suez etc all got swallows on their hands including myself.
4 sons of a Royal Marine two self made millionaires.. Get over yourself you mug instead of judging others take a look at why you are so inadequate in your own skin you feel the need to judge others in theirs..

Haha, rather nice but a bit pikey! Lol

Got to say I have a few too, currently being reworked into full sleeves. Am I ashamed of them? Not at all. Do they offend anyone? Don't really care. No one in my company seems to mind whether I have em. Pretty small minded if that's the way you judge people!

Got two on my chest an eagle and a deer both personal and both done by a talented artist not a scratcher, everyone to there own .

I thought it would be a hornets nest.
Inadaquate? not effing likely had a good paying life and in my working world you never see them as they don"t get through the interview process.
I personally find the oversized Michealangelo Sistene Chapel jobs just so ugly (soldiers sailors = point of honour that I can accept as I lived in Deal where the Marines were stationed) but plain old civilians in Tescos flaunting is just posing & ain"t my thing.

Martin,

I shouldn't really, but I am trying to work out what you are on about.

I wonder what world you work in where tattoos prevent you getting past the interview stage.

You do realise that those "military" types you accept, do, at some stage, leave the military and become civilians. And even shop in Tesco...

As for flaunting and posing, I think you make your excuses from buying your provisions in Waitrose or such and furtively hang around the aisles in Tesco. Watching for the young ladies (or laddies) bending over and revealing an "ugly tattoo"! Oh err

Martin - What is more important to you? is it the colour of somones skin, what that person looks like, what type of car they drive or how they talk - Or what sort of person they really are inside?
Ive got a few tatts, and not very good or artistic ones at that. Many of my good friends have tatts - And when I say GOOD FREINDS I mean real friends, the type of friends who are always the first there if they think you might have a bit of a problem or need a bit of help, not the type of friends who are only your friends when you are stood at the bar buying a round of drinks. Does theat make me or my good friends bad, inadequate, abnormal or socially unacceptable people - I think not!
I suspect that you have never heard the saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" - Maybe you should take some time out, sit down and have a good think about the true meaning of that saying!

Not my scene but after 25 years as a Prison Officer I have seen a fair few, from spider webs complete with spider covering the full face and head to some amazing works of art and lots of home made crap done by home made tattoo guns or just done with a sewing needle and any ink they can get their hands on.Lots of officers had tats too, full sleeves and various other works of art.Do I judge? Not till they open their gobs then they make it simple for me.
