  1. Wanted: game dealer N. Herefordshire

Andrew Francis behind the Salway Arms at Wofferton (on A49 between Leominster & Ludlow) used to be OK and paid on receipt. Personally I wouldn't use Eye Game Larder at Luston - too many of the deer hanging in there had lurcher tooth marks and dubious provenance  Willo Game are OK and...
  2. Travel channel - Life below zero

I'm looking forward to the episode where Sue from Kavik Camp finally gets eaten by a bear and I no longer have to listen to her wittering on about bloody predators around her perimeter. Mad Sue and her woman-eating wolverine fixation aside, the current series, which hasn't reached Travel...
  3. Prize winners supporters club draw

JoeD is from Sellack so hasn't evolved opposable thumbs yet - giving him a reloading kit to just look at is cruel :stir::D
  4. Parker Hale

I have a special order Parker Hale 7mm Rem' Mag', built on of a batch of pre-war Mauser Obendorf 98 actions that PH acquired in the 60s. The rifle was ordered as one of 3 in 1980, put into dry storage by the customer for 30 years and not proofed until it was sold 2011 - due to laziness on my...
  5. Howa 223 , sporter or varmint ?

I have a Sako L461 Vixen in .222 - it is a fantastic rifle: ultra short action, slick bolt and compact size in a very accurate calibre. I tend to use mine as a mid-range crow popper with 40gn Nosler BTs but it shoots 50gn SPs just as well so I'll switch out the big Zeiss varminting scope and pop...
  6. 22_250 Cleaning Advice

Assuming your existing cleaning rod fits into .224" bore, you'll need a new .224" jag and a .224 PB or nylon brush to fit that rod and possibly some slightly smaller patches. A.
  7. Mrs Stratts got all moody!

Get rid of the wife and keep the trophies - it's far less trouble in the long run...
  8. wanted - commemorative oak tree

O OK mate, I've sorted it - I stuck in an extra oak sapling for you today and had a solemn commemorative ceremony on your behalf, along the lines of 'There's that effing tree that Jimmy wanted, the boring arse, let's hope a Muntjac doesn't eat it, now let's get in out of this bloody rain'...
  9. Good result for common sense from West Mercia

I've found West Mercia will usually issue a section 7 temporary certificate without any trouble, as long as the delay is their fault and not due to the holder's late renewal. You do have to ask for it though but it's better than lodging guns with an RFD.
  10. New .270 moderator choices

If you want a very light mod' that reduces noise to an OK level, manages felt recoil and doesn't upset the balance of the rifle, look at a DPT mod'. If you want maximum noise suppression and recoil reduction but can live with a rifle fitted with a heavier moderator so it constantly slips on the...
  11. Tnt no longer delivering firearms!

This is an unfortunate knock on effect of Netherlands-based TNT having been purchased in December by US-based FedEx and therefore subjected to a pretty ruthless cost & efficiency review - it seems that the terms of the reduced cost firearms / ammunition shipping deal with the UK Gun Trade...
  12. Help needed from one-eyed shooters.

That's really helpful. (except for the racquet sports bit - I had no hand-to-eye coordination with both eyes functioning so haven't a hope in hell with just the one!)
  13. Help needed from one-eyed shooters.

First of all, this isn't a 'woe is me' post - it's a serious request for help and advice. Due to an untreatable medical condition, I am progressively losing the sight in my left eye and already have enough 'holes' in my vision to significantly affect my depth perception. While this has had...
  14. sako l61r action

A working Finnbear will go for around £400-450, so I'd say £150-200 for just the action, with magnum actions being marginally less popular. These are Sako at their engineering best and a great basis for a nice semi-custom job. I recently paid £140 for a good 695 action and mag' which I...
