  1. Tikka CTR mags and 204 Ruger

Here’s what the new 223 CTR mags look like. First pic is with 8 rds of 204 in there. Much, much improved!
  2. Tikka CTR mags and 204 Ruger

Just an update, the new 223 CTR mags have been redesigned, and now the final lip that touches the cartridge is metal and not plastic like the old ones still use a plastic sleeve as it’s a 308 mag body (like the AICS mag construction) but with the fix they new CTR 223 mags work flawlessly with 8...
  3. Considering taking a job in the UK: firearms lawyer? (and more)

Of that, given what I knew before you just posted, surprises me not a whit lol
  4. Considering taking a job in the UK: firearms lawyer? (and more)

I see. I assume UK Man pays VAT? If so, a box of 20 = £1.90/rd for Varmint Express .22-250. (is that the final price if buying in person?) Here the cheapest I found from a reputable place is $1.12 plus shipping and tax. Say, $1.50/rd, mail order and including Minnesota tax. Given that the...

Yeah, In the past I typically bought in lots of 500 or 1000. Still a fairly substantial amount to lay out for a lot of people. But if you find a sale, in the long run the savings add up dramatically. Oh well.
  6. Considering taking a job in the UK: firearms lawyer? (and more)

To put things in perspective, when I go prairie dog shooting out west, I brought ~1300 rds for my last trip and the first time I went I brought 3800 (just a bit optimistic, that one was). And I still had thousands of rounds left at home. If I find ammo on sale, I buy in bulk. And I am no...

Oh my. So, if I parse this info correctly, are you guys saying: UK Man is approved to own a 22-250 UK Man cannot buy a 308 barrel for his receiver or 308 ammo without further approval UK Man can only buy an arbitrary amount of 22-250 ammo, and no other calibers Wow. How much ammo may UK Man...

Since I own a modern AI (AIAT), I can switch barrels at will. Even if I didn’t have such a thing, but had a barrel vise, a torque wrench, and an action wrench, I could switch out barrels and calibers ad infinitum on my Tikkas and Remingtons. Pretend I got my guns over there, or bought them in...
  9. 6.5 Creedmoor banned on MOD ranges

Ah, I see. Understood. Btw, I heartily recommend getting a 22-250 barrel for your switch-barrel Accuracy International. Feeds well out of the AW mag (around 7-9 rounds possible). Glorious for the varminteer in me.
  10. Considering taking a job in the UK: firearms lawyer? (and more)

Well, I’m back, and the prospect of an international move is firmly back on the table after some very good news from the bigwigs above the UK team that I lead. Including a substantial bump of salary and position. I need to reach out to a UK lawyer as the Global Mobility Team in the firm will no...
  11. 6.5 Creedmoor banned on MOD ranges

??? Come again? Over here in the US, I can shoot 22-250 at paper targets at the two ranges that I belong to in Minnesota. This is with the factory Hornady Superperformance 50g ammo going at 4145fps (~90°F). Below is a pic of a personal range, but I include it for my chrono. Or are you...
  12. 3hgr light harness

Wait, I think I might understand now. If the rifle is slung over the left shoulder and behind your back, then I think what your modified config does is the keeper strap goes back around your left side and up to its attachment spot. Is that right?
  13. 3hgr light harness

I’m having trouble imagining how this works…would you happen to have a few pics with it over your shoulder?

I must admit this whole train of thought of mine seems like it’s close to running out of steam.
  15. Considering taking a job in the UK: firearms lawyer? (and more)

Thank you gents for all of the info. I’ve certainly got some reading to do, and also I need to research the meds issue further. Btw, the married bit was misinterpreted and I should’ve been more specific. I actually theorized that getting married to a UK gal would actually be worse for my...
