There’re not that many cuckoos, whereas there are plenty of pipits. It’s nature, evolution in action. The pipits will have to evolve to get the better of the cuckoo. It’s an arms race

I’ve been watching the local cuckoos again this year and found this youngster today in a meadow pipits nest after watching the parent pipit back to the nest with food. It’s several days old so the egg was probably layed 21st/22nd May. Earliest for me, i normally find eggs in early June 👍🏻
