  1. Salt Licks

Deer & Salt Last winter i witnessed muntjac eating the dirty contaminated grass from the verge of the road. Afterwards i wondered if it would have had anything to do with the gritters laying down salt.
  2. St Huberts Club of Gt Britain?

Good Morning all, Douglas, theres nothing fishy here. Pete, just read your last post, I was fast asleep whilst you were tapping away, you must have been fired up. We can argue for all eternity and i do not think we will ever agree, but I think your ability to quote rules by paragraph...
  3. St Huberts Club of Gt Britain?

Pete, I was with the St H's for my full probationary year, the quarterly meeting which resolved the gentlemans fate was my last. The camo issue as I recall was enforced ridgidly, during my first weekend the cottage coordinator ordered an A stalker to remove his Realtree camo jacket. The...
  4. St Huberts Club of Gt Britain?

Pete states guys typically wear hunting suits and army surplus on a typical cottage weekend. Rubbish! The St H's forbid camouflage of any type and will openly tell you to remove it. I also seriously doubt the offending A stalker would have been ousted from the club had Trevor Banham of the FC...
  5. St Huberts Club of Gt Britain?

Don't knock DSC 1&2. This is a readily available course of traning that brings novices up to a basic threshold standard, testing people in areas that they simply would be pushed to pottering around on their own bit of ground. The St Huberts training is exacting but in my experience they do...
  6. St Huberts Club of Gt Britain?

St Huberts I thought this would have a few devided opinions! My personal experience was of mixed feelings but eventually the "cons" out weighed the pluses. The "incident" was a senior A stalker who finished his stalk with his pupil,(who incidentally had better firearm sense than he) travelled...
  7. St Huberts Club of Gt Britain?

Hi all, I had until recently the unfortunate experience of St Hubert membership. Before I share my tails of dissapointment, I thought I would stir up some debate by asking, what your perception of the club is?
  8. Leupold's New Scope

Leuplod Scopes I am Leupold through and through. I use an M4 for hunting and target and tried them out for the first time eight years ago with a Leupold PR scope which impressed me so much i have never used anything else. Built to a military spec they will easily withstand a knock that would...
  9. Roe Calls

Hi all, I use a Buttalo, I have called up does, foxes and even owls but never a buck although i have used it twice succesfully in the rut to stop a buck in his tracks. I suppose its all in the wrist
  10. Fallow Deer on Sugarbeet.

Stalking Fallow Duncs, I find Fallow can be tough to stalk in that they return to cover at first light and leave cover at last light, if your not in the right place at the right time you will miss them. A trick i use is to find them out on the field with a lamp before first light and wait...
  11. 243 Vs 308

243 v 308 Hi all, Surely shot placement is the key principle. I have used both cartridges. 243 is a great stalking cartridge and the 308 is a versatile cartridge, but if your marksmanship is ropy then go 308 ;)
