I have one, plus spare barrel which works well however just keep an eye on the stock. The nice wood is prone to cracking where it meets the action, it isrepairable, mine has been gone twice now so I generally use the spare synthetic stock.
I have 2, one stutzen in 7x57 and a 405 Winchester. The stutzen wound not group well initially but solved this with a pressure point under the forend cap. Both rifles have a trimmed penny jammed between the forend hanger and the barrel which helps. My shooting mate now has Greenmans 7x57. All of...
I am not night shooting, but reaping the rewards of all the people who are going at it it the weald, (probably on their own) Seeing more fallow on my quieter areas than normal. I did think it was a good idea but now not so sure that its worth the bother. Common sense would have been to have no...
I think I have said on here before that copper performance needs to be 7mm and above. I have got a accurate load in .260 (127 gn LRX) which I think is doing just under 700m/s but some fails to stop on red hinds and calves at around 150m. Below is a 375 H&H exit on a warthog at 60m which shows...
I am in South Africa today at Oliver Tambo. It took 90 minutes of frank and meaningful discussion and reasonable inducement to get the paperwork done by the police office ( we were the only people there) It took all 6 of the staff to deal with the paperwork and typing in detail . We did however...
There seems to be an undercurrent of collaboration between NE or whoever theh asked for advice. I spoke to PDS today about the practical shooting test which for them does not exist yet. I have no problem with competency testing but can only assume that DSC 2 makes you automatically able to shoot...
I have a 6.5 x55 with a spare 308 barrel option. They are very good. I have a nice set of wood as well but that would be my only issue with them as they are prone to cracks where the stock meets the action. Mine has been repaired twice. I have synthetic options so not a drama.
16 inch Tikka tactical in .308 will hit a 10cm circle at 600 yards with 8/10 shots using Sako 165 grain copper. 18 inches will be a bit better velocity wise. You do have to know your scope settings for warm and cold weather and read the wind well. However for deer I would think a maximum of 300...
I made a bracket from various photography bits from. Amazon which attaches to a picatinny rail for range use. I would not bother taking it out stalking however. There was a lot of filing and spray paint. Useful for the range but thats about it
